Hello,

Im a very new knife maker. I made my own 2x72 belt grinder. I made only 3 knives so far. I use 01 Tool steel on my knives so far.

My problem is im having trouble making the bevel grinds on the tanto blade. Does anyone know of an online resource that can help me with the grinds?

The point bevel with 2 different facets is what i was going for. Should i be grinding it this way? Or a different way?

Thank you
Mark

Yea, that is what im looking for. But how was it done? Ive tried and can never get the different facets look right.

There's some great info in this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1288511-Grinding-a-Tanto

It can help to grind a couple chisel ground kiridashi first, it will help you get a better feel and idea for what's going on when grinding the tip portion. This advice was given by Daniel Fairly in the linked thread above, who is great at doing tanto and other similar compound grinds.

That was my first hybrid grind and first tanto, it was all done freehand and it came out surprisingly well. It's pretty straightforward, do a hollow grind and then flat grind the tip.
