Tanto... pointless or to the point?

I have only ever had folders with tip down carry and find them very convenient in the front and back pocket. I've got a spyderco manix2 arriving in a couple of days and that will be my first tip up.
I guess it's just a matter of getting used to grabbing the knife specifically so it's drawn with a thumb on the stud. Could probably get quite confusing for someone who rotates their EDC's regularly if they're under stress and need to deploy the blade fast.

Don't get me wrong, before last year, all I owned and therefore carried were tip down carry. But since I got my first tip up carry last year, its been my EDC, and I have decided I like tip up carry the best. I have bought a couple tip down carry blades since then, but one with the intention of modifying it to be tip up, but that idea has failed so far. Tip up carry is faster to deploy (especially wave style openers) than tip down carry.

I like tanto blades - specifically the CQC7 and the various Lum models made by Benchmade and Spyderco. As far as a fixed blade goes, not really interested.

I'll just have to wait and see what I think but so far I've had no reason at all to bump tip up carry. I think it looks better when placed at the rear but am curious to see how it feels for rapid deployment.

Lol, dude, do you not get enjoyment from smashing stuff up every now and then? If not try it, you might like it. If you don't care for it I wouldn't look down on that, at all. Just saying. Or maybe you just think tantos are ugly? I know i did at first but they are aesthetic to me now. The straight lines are an attraction, not sure why.
If I'm feeling destructing I have plenty of Busse and Scrap Yard knives to bash around! I know the tip is tougher on a tanto but I really don't consider them to be beaters. As I said earlier today I liked the look of 1 tanto, Is that not enough to please you people!!! What's with it fool. Just messing around :D but seriously I saw the first tanto today that I've ever had passionate feelings for... you know like pick her up, take her home and play around with her in bed for a couple of days feelings!:p

what? lol :D

And no, I did not read each and every post. We are pleased with you now, but you must strive harder, I need pics of your Scrapyards with scars, manglation on an accelerated scale, brick walls penetrated, nothing. else. will. do.!

Can't, didn't you see he's selling 'em...:)

I'm also not a fan of the tanto shape. But I figured I needed to have one in my collection to call it complete. So I picked up this custom at the last Southern California Blade Expo.

That ought to get the job done. :)

.

To be honest that looks more like a scandi grind with a big micro bevel then a tanto

I only own one tanto blade - my Benchmade Nitrous Stryker. I bought it because I really like the design of the knife, and at the time it was the only model my local knife store had in stock (I like to buy from him when I can).

My buddy carries tanto blades all the time - he works for an armored car company and says he has to cut open a variety of different types of bags, and really likes the penetrating ability of the tanto.

Bottom line for me - I buy what I like and I like what I buy.

Lol, It has never come to that so far but when I have a few hundred/thousand dollars to throw away I might give it a go... So far it's been fun enough to just do a little chopping in the yard but I have a bead blasted chopweiler arriving soon and I really plan to put it through it's paces...
