Tanto Sebenza!!!

Please, God, make it stop.

I'm going to chalk this one up to CRK's eagerness to please the customer base and not assume that they think this style has any particular advantage...

I think it looks cool. One of the better tanto shapes I've seen.

I agree with Fireprez. Short of 4 bills for a decorated limited run is pretty reasonable. There's a fair amount of forumites out there that seem to be down on the chisel point, aka American Tanto, but I beg to differ in it's limitations to perform in a utilitarian capacity. I regularly rotate chisel points, handmade and production, folders and small fixed, in and out as my daily carry knives, 'tho not exclusively. I find them to work just fine for me. Waiting for a response from Dave at Nordic. I'll probably snag one if available.

I hate to profess my ignorance, but why is the Sebenza such a sought-after and much worshipped knife? No, I have never held one, but I have been to Chris's site and checked them out. Please enlighten me, so I can begin lusting after one with good reason. Right now I just want one 'cause you all have one!

On an American tanto, point strength and penetrating ability are emphasized over edge utility. If the tanto point is too high on the blade's axis, you have to bend your wrist all out of shape to get a straight thrust. Microtech solved this on the SOCOM by lowering the entire blade in relation to the handle. This drops the point into a usable thrusting position. The tanto Sebenza's point is way too high to be practical for thrusting with a straight (and therefore strong) wrist. Oh well, looks sell.

I am riding the fence on this one.

Sebenza???? Yeah!!!!

Tanto???? Nahhh?????

I was hoping that he was going to interpret tanto in a more traditional?Japanese way....

I don't mind high spines, but.....

Oh well.

With the shading on the Nordicknives picture, the point looks kind of like a shark's nose. I think I'll get one and have an eye and some teeth painted on each side of the blade just like a WW II P51 Mustang-now that would be tac, oops, sorry, I almost said it.

Rick, if you have aspirations of becoming an assassin, you should probably go straight to Mad Dogs anyway and forget about the MTs and CRKs.

What's this world coming to? A tanto sebenza? What's next, a pratical utility blade from Hibben? Thanks Cappy for catching yourself

Cappy - Yup that's me Rick: American Ninja. Why, just this afternoon, I took out a small cardboard box, several lengths of twine, and a medium pizza with my poisoned 3 ½" utility knife 'o death (at least the pizza seemed poisoned; must've been the anchovies).

"Tanto" blades are designed for two reasons: looks and point penetration. I didn't say you had to go poke any holes in your neighbor's dog or nothin'. If a utility knife is going to have its usefulness compromised by a trendy design, it should at least be none right.

chris will do this but he wont do a spyderco/sebenza?

im still scratching my head.
