  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

tanto vs. western tanto

come on dude...............a tanto is not a frickkin short sword

unless you're a wee man who considers a blade from 6 to 12" a sword

(and ya, I have the same book)

Traditional tanto looks nice. Spyderco Lum tanto also.

The modern ones look like crap, no offence.

What about if you are a Ninja Hobbit? :p

I gotta go with SShepherd on this one. My history on this subject tends to push in this direction => Tanto's are defensive knives/daggers carried by the Samurai. Yes they were carried into battle. But they are not swords.

To the original OP ~ As far as the Traditional vs Geometric Tanto - the angular geometric blade , its kinda useless... unless you need to scrape your registration decal from inside your car window. ..... and for Ninja Hobbits :D

(This post was in no way to offend the Hobbits or J.R.R. Tolkien)

From the book, The Samurai Sword, page 47. Short Sword (Tanto) Less than one shaku in length.
So, this information is incorrect??
