So I started on these little EDC blades last night and tried to put in a little pry bar/screw driver type thing on the butt of the handle but that quickly became a tapered tang. Well, the tapers are not even or straight on any of them so now theres no way handle scales will fit flush.

And some of the tangs ended up shortened as well. That's worrysome as handle real estate is already at a premium on these little guys.

Please help! Any sort of suggestions or solutions welcome. Maybe just cut the tangs off and do the kind that slides into a handle? What do you call that? How do I cut the hole in a handle to set that up?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if I'm looking at it right, but I'd say (middle photo) just take the radius out of the taper, you know, make them flat. I don't see why a handle scale wouldn't fit nicely. Am I missing something?
