tapered tangs , just how do you do it?

I have been reading about tapered tangs and how they aid in balance and would like very much to learn how you match the tapered tang angle with the tapered handle material.

Or is it simply an issue of gluing on the handle materials flat to the tang then shaping them flush with the straightness of the blade?
