Hey everyone,

I am just about positive I am going to jump on a tattoo here soon. I have been working out and once my biceps are just a tad bit bigger i think i will go for an upper bicep tattoo.

I'm thinking a spartan or centurion (maybe a viking) with his skull exposed and screaming.

I want to position it so I could wear polo shirts without it showing. Any other tips for when I get one?

If you think getting a tattoo is a bad idea, let me know why (try to talk me off the ledge here:D)

I think it would also be pretty awesome if you posted up some pics of your tattoos if you have any (no pics of tramp stamps please:p)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

What happens when you stop working out? I love tats and definitely say go for it but makes sure the tattoo wont warp with time.

Print out the design and put it on your desk or some place where you'll see it every day. Look at it every day for a year. If you still like it, get it tattooed on you. It's permanent. Don't f this up.

Yep, I have ink. Not much, just what I like and what passed the year test.

I'm very corporate appearing, and my bicep tats are either concealed or just peeking out under short sleeves, depending on the length - again, just exactly what I wanted.

Think about it like this. If it were a bumper sticker would you want it on your Ferrari?

Just make sure it is not an impulse choice. Ink is hard to erase.

Sound advice. I think I will try that test. And thanks for the info on short sleeves.

Good analogy, the bumper sticker would have to be classy or reflect an idea in the proper way and it should be placed in a low profile but visible way.

I like it.

Too bad I drive a Subaru....

I have two what I dont see talked about alot is aftercare Different artist have different advise have this stuff http://h2ocean.com/aftercare/tattoo-aftercare-products/worked great for me especially the Foam Soap and Ocean Care Cream. Kind of expensive but worth it to me
Awesome!! I book marked it and I hadn't really thought about taking care of it after the work is done. It doesn't seem like a huge expenditure since tattoos are like 20x more than that depending on how much work is done.

Thanks for the advice.

I designed my first tattoo in 1993 and didn't get it until 96. Definitely investigate artists. Make sure they do the type of work you want, and do it well. Be prepared for pain. Each person feels it differently, but to me, it feels like a cigarette burn while getting the ink in. Unlike a cig burn, the pain does stop when the needle stops.

I'm not so much worried about the pain, I mean, soccer moms get tattoos right?

But on a more serious note, did you design your own tattoo yourself or did you have a tattoo artist design it from what you gave him?

As far as pain goes to me it felt like a fire ant bite but the tattoo didnt bother me as much as the itching and tenderness after. Another thing to be aware of is that you will probably stain your sheets and clothes at least for the first few days so use and wear stuff you dont mind getting stained. Here are two crappy pictures of my tatts This second one was taken not long after it was done hence the redness and bruising.

Ah, pretty sick man! Thanks for the advice.

I've got both my arms done in 3/4 sleeves, stopped about 4 or 5 inches below my elbow so I could still wear a dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up a bit. I don't think tattoos have the stigma they did even 10 years ago, so hiding them isn't as big a worry for me now. Just make sure you find an artist you like and have him or her do the design, they know what they're doing, and how to use lines and shading to best fit the body part being tattooed. Beware, they are addictive, I started at 18, am 34 now, and still getting work done. Tattoos also need to be touched up and cared for, don't get one if you aren't going to take care of it.

Awesome stuff man! I've been thinking about taking a road trip around town and talking to some tattoo artists and see what they have to say.
Just out of curiosity, how did you find an artist that you liked?

i drew it myself. carried the piece of paper from Iceland, to Germany, then finally decided to get it in San Diego.

Lol soccer moms, women have higher pain tolerance in general.

Yeah guess its all that "child birthing" they do :D .

I'm just not too worried about the pain, I can manage it or just get drunk before the tattoo LOL.

many artists will not work on those who are drunk. Best to keep a clear head and concentrate on something else.
