Well... We had the old taxes done and stuck it to Uncle sam pretty good :D

With a ceiling of $175. The chance to buy something awsome for a change(other than my CQC-7)

What should I get? Im a big fan of tough arse folders like Emersons And Ive been eyeballing a Buck/Strider tanto for work. Lets keep it in the EDC type folders.

Problem is I just got my EKI 7 a couple of days ago and I havnt had time to get my saliva flowing for "Another Knife?" as the wife calls them.

I may very well get another EKI, like an A blade CQC those look really cool. Just trying to expand my horizons. Ive really been getting into Spyderco's lately and Ive been drooling over the EKI cqc for a while now, My tastes are expanding as is my knife drawer! ;) Im sure benchmades are on the horizon. Any suggestions??? All you blade flicking, bare armed, package opening, self reliant Knifeaholics. :D :D

Folder
Tough as nails
4" or under--3"or over (give or take)
Righty or ambi

Help me find something cool or shamelessly plug your favorite EDC! ;)

Really tough and very high quality knife I know for now is Buck Strider 880 SP.
.180" thick very good quality ATS-34 by Bos 4" or 3", titanium liners, G10, $109 on besyknives.
I am very impressed! It looks great but it feels even greater - even it looks like a brick - it is not. Handle has kind of hidden profile and it has solid and comfortable grip.
Thanks, Vassili.

Well, you have a new Emerson so I say get a Benchmade 710 or an Al Mar Sere 2000. Both are fine blades and meet your criteria for toughness.

Off to find info on these right now!

I though an EKI CQC-7 A- blade olive handle would be unique. Gotta go to the BM site.........

Camillus Dominator. S30V blade, Ti handle, Assisted Opening. Street price $158 at 90% of the dealers that support BladeForums.com. I've been carrying the HEAT version for a few weeks now and I'm super impressed with it. The Dominator is even better.

Benchmade 520 is another great choice as well. Very friendly handle and great lock system as well.

Get either a Benchmade 710, or the slightly larger 805...Two of MY favorites. The Benchmade 806D2 isn't bad either, if you don't mind a black blade.

My vote goes for the Paramilitary, which may be the best knife value going right now. Although, I do so love my Dominator......

Why don't you stop by the Makers for sale forums right here on BFC and pick up a nice custom? I've seen quite a few great blades over there in the sub 200 range that I'd like to pick up, just not enough cash flow to buy 'em all.

Thats a great idea but I know so little about custom makers that I wouldnt know where to start. (You KNOW Im gonna go look though ;) ) Also Im scared to cross over to "The Other Side" cause Ill never have any money left........ever............Again! :D

Looking very hard at a Buck\Strider Tanto looks like it could stab through a brick!

Whats a BM AFCK like? And what does that stand for?

Yeah, if it weren't your money to begin with ...

Spydie Military, BM 710, or Al Mar Sere2k

AFCK Is Advanced Folding Combat Knife. It was designed by Chris Caracci, a former Navy SEAL.

Great knife, with good ergos. Even better with an AXIS lock.

Not to be a spoil-sport or anything, but Uncle Sam stuck it to you. If you end up paying taxes at the end of the year its like you took an interest free loan from the government. However, if the government owes you money at the end of the year, they've been using your money without compensating you for it.

P.S. Get a Benchmade.

Were you EXPECTING a tax return? If you were, spend the amount you've stated.

But if YOU WEREN'T expecting a return and this is a surprise, then I'd say ADD to that what ever you'd probably spend on you're next knife and buy something even better.

I'd say go with an Emerson. They have a lot of exciting new stuff out and if you don't do it now you probably won't get the opportunity. ;)

Emerson is a good knife company to have as a favorite. Don't feel obligated to get "something different" because people talk about so many different knives on this forum. If you've liked your past Emersons. Just look at all their new stuff and get the thing that makes you drool the most! :D

Lately, I've only been buying a bunch of knives from 3 brands and I don't feel bad about it. You shouldn't feel bad about picking a favorite early or pressured to try everything if another Emerson is what would turn you on the most.

The BM 806D2 is a great knife, tough for sure. How about the Camillus Madd Maxx 5.5 bowie? Great usefull blade shape and Ti handles and a frame-lock with D2 blade.

You also say a "EDC type folder", how about the BM 420 Resistor,BM 630 Skirmish, or BM 670 Appirtion ? All of these look like great knives that are sturdy and still great looking.

Just a thought, you may want to check out the 2 Greco folders that are left on his site, everyone here seems to think they are great and strong as all hell and for $75, you could get one of each here, shipped, and still have $5

If I had $175 burning a hole in my pocket I would be itching to check out the new Benchmade Skirmish.

Im not sure if they are available yet but Im sure I'll gert to check one out shortly I'm going to the Oregon Knife show Saturday!

MOD Trident M/A, ambi opening knife, fits in the hand very well and built like a tank.

You can find them for $150 or so on the various forums and eBay.
