My dad gave my son several years back a Coleman clip blade knife produced by TaylorBrands in Kingsport, TN. He only started keeping the knife in his pocket this year. The knife has never really even been used, just carried in my son's pocket when camping. Well, one of the screws that holds the blade into place fell out along with 3 of the small side screws. I contacted Coleman, who in return gave me the number to TaylorBrands. I spoke with Tammy in the Customer Service dept. at TaylorBrands and she advised me they only have "1 Knife left" to replace any Coleman knife warranty. She also informed me that there was going to be a "Warranty Fee" that I must pay. I tried to explain that I know this was not an expensive knife, but by the time that I paid the "Warranty Fee", shipping cost and insurance that I would be within a few dollars of buying another knife. I offered to purchase the replacement screws and repair the knife myself, but no replacement parts were available. I have a draw full of Old Timer's, Schrade's and Uncle Henry's, and I always felt good about their products. I was just really taken back that they would request a "Warranty Fee" almost equal to the purchase price of the knife. I have never had a warranty claim and and was wondering if this is the "Norm" when it comes to knives warranty? Would be nice for everyone to warranty their knive's like Esee!!
