I recently picked up a knife that I need some help with. It's a taylor Gamecock, the blades are surgical stainless and it appears to be bone handles. It's maked Japan but seems to be a pretty well made knife. Does anyone know anything of this knife. And also maybe what it's worth if anything. Thanks in advance

The Taylors are out of Knoxville TN and used to (maybe still do) have contract knives made under their name (as well as S&W by license). Quality of them varies, so some were of good solid quality, others not so good. I imagine there are a few Taylor collectors out there some where, but I do not think the value would be too high in the majority of cases. I am not familiar with the pattern you have.

(Sorry, I am not of much help on this one)

Most of the taylor Japan made knives have been priced (in the past) between 9-28 dollars, or so (? something like that). They are not "high" on the collectablity scale, but there are those that collect taylor knives, just as there are ones who collect, parker, frost, parker-frost, parker-edwards, ect. To someone like this the knife would be worth a little more to that person. Seeeing though how many of these, just like parkers knives, were mass produced, it would take them a long, long time to have any tangible collector value. I say if its one of the better made ones keep it!!! I have a few older Japan made frosts, and parkers that the quality is pretty good. I also have some frosts that the quality is not much to speak of too. If its a good knife keep it!!!
