To deter piglets from stripping the coating on a reduced price coated blade... to then get the upgraded comp finish that's been hidden all along......
...I will say that I am regretting passing on this blade. I just really respect and appreciate dialogue from the creator toward the product not the sales pitch.
Did you ever call the shop and talk to them about this knife? I'm curious what answers they wouldn't give you when you talked to them.
If you're going to go on the man's BladeForums company page and bash his communication and call him out for shady business practices and price gouging I would expect you did your part and called to talk to the man first.I've spoken with Jerry on the horn more times than I can count and I've gotten the janitor a couple times after regular hours, to boot. Couldn't hurt to give him a call ... good suggestion!![]()
It wasn't a big deal, until simple (but big deal) in knife terms were unanswered. Then see posts by Jerry later on in thread just selling and not answering. There was no soon to be release tgulb on their site...so that is not where they do business until the sale apparently (their email is a mess in my experience). This forum is where Busse does business. I called about using my grab bag on this knife and they said I could only use it for future purchases....again another mystery buy. Still love Busse knives and you get a lot of great steel for your buck. I think its cool that Jerry is so involved, just wish he was really involved. We are all here for the love of knives (knife community). If i wanted a sharpened piece of steel I would not be on here. I don't consider myself a knife nerd, just a guy that was excited to have the guy that makes the blade be more interested in following through on his creation...shoot the sh$t not the pitch.Did you ever call the shop and talk to them about this knife? Busse took the competition finish away from us for years and we begged they bring it back.

The Busse forum is the most respectful forum I've ever found online and I don't appreciate where this dude is taking it.
Anyone else think it was odd that Busse skipped the fitting and blending of the handle scales to the tang of the new TGULB?? They were just CNC cut and bolted on as-is? I have to admit, I noticed this rather quickly and was a bit surprised that there was no longer fitting in this area. I have numerous Busse's and none of the Nuclear Meltdown models are this way nor are any of the other Team Gemini LB's this way?
My other "nuclear meltdown" Busse's (NMFSH, for example) that have rounded edges everywhere except where the handle edge is fitted/buffed to the knife scales, so I am curious if this might have been a cost saving measure, or done purposefully to eliminate stress risers? If the latter is true, then I guess all of my other Busse's have stress risers, ha.
Its a great knife otherwise, but was honestly expecting a bit more in the fit & finish area at a $500+ price point. YMMV.
I hope this doesn't offend anyone, and is not meant as some pointless troll post. This also isn't any insinuation that this detail wasn't disclosed since the description clearly says "The Nuclear Meltdown treatment rounds all exterior corners of the blade, handle, and pommel, for a massive reduction in any possible stress risers and potential "Hot Spots" under heavy use!!!"
Goes without saying (but I will), I am a huge Busse fan and have an extensive collection. I would just like to hear if anyone else noticed this detail or cared about it......
Thx
