The blade is too thick, way too heavy, the handle is too short and it's hard to open.

It slices great, I don't even notice the weight in my pocket, I get a perfect three finger grip (XXL hands) and I can't stop opening it and admiring it. The f&f is better than any knife I own, even my GB. I've only had it for a month but I don't think I'll ever stop carrying it. I love this knife! I'm so confused.
I'm getting a backup as soon as I can.:D

Hahaha. Great post. What a rollercoaster. You should get the Techno's big brother, the Slysz Bowie.

Yeah I hate mine as well :)

First day of ownership I required 4 stitches.

Then I got big brother and now all is well.

Wade, I'm worried about the downturn on the back of the handle. I'm worried it might not fit my XXL hands very well. It's the only thing holding me back. Would love to see some pics of it in XXL hands.

This is a classic case of a knife having objective deficiencies - at least according to you, me and many others - yet being subjectively loved as man-jewelry, eye candy, a pocket toy, etc. There is no way that the Techno's cutting ability justifies the price, but as fondling toy we are often willing to pay the big bucks.

Tie a lanyard to it to extend the grip if that truly is an issue.

I kind of wish there was a baby Slysz Bowie (or a slimmer Techno, I guess).

Take a look at the Spydiechef.

The lanyard suggestion would definitely work, I'm just not a fan of lanyards. I have very large and strong hands so the three finger grip is not a problem at all. The knife feels very solid in hand. I did have to change out the pocket clip. It hit my hand in the wrong spot and was sliding all over the place. I installed a Manix 2 clip and it works perfectly.

The Spydiechef is a very interesting design.

I agree, when I first got a Techno a few years back, I was so confused! A massively thick, little big knife?! It's a neat design, though.

I wear large to xlarge gloves and I managed a 4 fingers grip with the hammer grip. The techno could do hard push cuts no problem like this. Such a crazy cool little BIG knife this is!

I've been tempted lately to get some custom Ti standoffs. I' just haven't decided if I should or not! Anodized blue ti standoffs would really rock no? :)

Got one... Got another with custom scales shortly after. Looking at blade thickness etc. it shouldn't perform well, but it really is a great little knife.

It's bigger brother is pretty sweet as well :D

Blanex1,
Definitely. Both have that "bank vault" lockup. Where as both of my GB's have slight variances in the blade grind heights on each side and sharper edges, the Techno has a perfect blade grind on both sides with all edges softened, even the Spydie hole. I can't find any imperfections with it anywhere and I can be a picky SOB. This is not a slight against the GB, it's my favorite folder ever. Also, I only have one Techno and that's about the smallest sample size there is. Looking forward to getting my next Techno for comparison. As Powernoodle said, this is "man jewelry" to the extreme while still being very capable for all my regular EDC needs.

Been looking at the standoffs myself. Blue would definitely be cool but I was thinking the unfinished ones would go good with my shiny finished Manix 2 clip. Hard decision.

You guys are killing me with the pictures of the Bowie!

Great post.
I liked the looks from the beginning but hesitated for a long time to buy one. After I did it became an immediate EDC. This is one knife you have to hold to really appreciate / get over preconceptions about its dimensions (size, weight, thickness). Great knife! I did swap out the backspacer for standoffs - just personal preference though.
