My head is about to explode.
I am overwhelmed with satisfaction. This is the most expensive folding knife I've ever bought to keep and carry.
I live in the city and do sales in people's homes.
I needed something small but I'm all about strength and reliability.
I decided on a techno quite awhile back. I ordered it from an auction site, as it turned out from a fellow bladeforums member.
I have found my edc for the next many years.I can't get over the super late engaging yet perfectly secure detent. How do they do that? No Springs yet it sucks itself in. The lock up makes me feel very secure in using this knife hard. The mechanics of opening, locking, unlocking, closing are Infinitely entertaining. Lol I can't put it down.
The centering, the way the screws inlaid, the blade, grind.... It's too much. I've always bought enduras, had a native, wife edc's a dragonfly tattoo. Decided to continue to trust spyderco on the higher end. To my shock this is as good (better) value then even their legendary cheaper knives. I believe this is a gold standard for production collaboration based on an existing custom knife (slyz mouse)... I can relax on the edc search now for some time and just enjoy pocket perfection. I think I may customize it a little. Anybody have some pimped techno pics to post on this thread? would be appreciated.

Techno really is an excellent little beast of a folder.

Mine is actually toned down a bit for more low-key class with a Cuscadi carbon backspacer. The blue was cool, but I like this better. If I'm in the mood for blue I grab my BBS Domino or Lava sprint instead.

Mine isn't modified but it complements the larger Spydies in my collection for paired EDC duties most excellently.

The Techno is a great little knife. It's definitely one to be seen and felt before buying though.

Thanks for the pimp pics! I like the standoffs. Love the anodizing. Remnar, who did the anodizing for you? I saw standoffs on auction site.Do you guys think there's any draw back to having them, as far as strength or performance vs the bigger backstop ?.. Finally, if I take this thing apart to do any of this does it go back together fairly easily, perfectly ?
Thanks, awesome technos!

Disassembly will void your warranty.
I doubt the standoffs will sacrifice much structural integrity on this knife.
Some people say more lint with standoffs, but don't see how it would be much different than backspacer. Either way though no big deal, I use an air compressor on my knives regularly to blow them out.
Reassembly can result in crooked or tight blade pivot if you are not precise.
I like to use blue loc-tite personally. NEVER red, although I have seen reports of Taiwan produced knives being overloaded with red from the factory and stripping hardware as a result.

I anodized mine myself. So far it is the only knife that I have anodized, but I have plans for others. Here's my original thread discussing my mods.

I did notice one drawback to the standoffs. If I run a finger between the scales, then the tip of the knife is close enough to the edge of the scales to catch my finger. I don't think this happens with the back spacer in place, but it is not a big issue. I don't think the strength or performance is changed significantly with standoffs. I do think that it is easier to clean the knife with standoffs. The knife was very easy to disassemble and reassemble without any issues. This doesn't mean that everybody should try it. If you have no mechanical ability at all, then you probably shouldn't tinker. That's why disassembly may void your warranty.
:D

Remnar that's a hell of a nice first time anodizing! Looks pro. Love that techno.
As far as testing techno first. I have HUGE xxL hands. And had never seen one in person. Knowing I could sell it without loss on the exchange eased my worry. When I first opened it I was like hmm (3 finger grip for me) After getting used to it and trying different grips and positioning, I really like it. It rides in my coin pocket. And does daily type stuff. I have bigger knives for work type jobs. I don't mind giving up some handle real estate for a smaller carry. That said, just going by the specs it's hard to get a grip on how this knife feels.

The girth probably helps out your grip.

I don't think anybody ever purchased a Techno thinking it was a long knife though...

The Techno is actually about the same handle thickness and height as the vaunted ParaMilitary 2.
It has one of the most comfortable opening holes too.

I think a techno on a diet would be great. Chaparral thickness blade and Bingo! Super awesome gent's knife (fancy up the scales if you need to). Call it the Techno Lite.

Agreed. I love everything about the knife but every time I look at one it just doesn't feel quite right in my hand. I still find myself wanting one though.
