Techno vs Sage 2

I've been carrying my Techno every day since August, 2012 & haven't been able to see a difference in the lock moving at all. In that time, I've used it for everything from food prep to cutting firehose & have yet to encounter a task it couldn't handle.

The techno is a small nice knife and you can't go wrong with buying one . The sage to me is better all around knife . Longer blade feels like you are caring a much more expensive knife . It feels very smooth when opening and the techno you really need to bend the thump to get to the Spyde hole it's a bit uncomfortable to open . Sage has a bigger handle and makes is easier to open . You only can open the techno on way with you thump . The sage you can use the thump , the middle finger and the Spyde drop . Cool looking factor goes to the techno cuz it's just a cool looking blade . Plus the stone wash really works well and looks great . It hides all the scratches .

The techno is my favorite knife and the sage just didn't speak to me. These are non, flippers and the RIL should last a long time. Sebenzas have been doing those for decades without major issues. The new lockbar inserts are better slightly but it would take a long time and a lot of abuse for it to make a difference in a non-flipper. I do, however, much prefer the inserts in high end customs because of the investment, but that's only for flippers. It's like the need for a bigger pivot screw, people think they often need it when they don't.

I used to have a Sage 2 and it really didn't do anything for me once the initial "new knife" feeling wore off. I found it too wide in the pocket. The Techno was one of those I really disliked the looks of but liked the specs. But once I got it, I fell in love with it. For such a small knife it fits my L/XL hands very well (pinky off though). And the tip and edge are very thin for how wide the spine is.. just a great, classy knife. So for me.. Techno.

Good point. Well said too. This thread is leading to the inevitable conclusion oft encountered on BF- get both:)

Nice edge. Looks great. Free hand, Edge pro or Wicked Edge? Thanks for the Spyderco porn.

My lockbar hasn't moved from use and had it for a year now. Edge wise few hours of free handing, thanks for the compliment. Also with this being a Marcin design they may never change it to a steel insert lockbar.

I've owned, carried, used, and loved both.
The Techno is a bit beefier where the Sage 2 is thinner.
However, the Techno has better steel and fit just fine in my larger hands(yes I'm a girl and still have big hands lol).
I actually preferred the grip on it and the substantial-ness in the hand. Plus CTS-XHP is just awesome.
I also preferred the blade shape.
On top of everything, it has a thicker blade and is made for hard use but still is a nice slicer with the FFG.
So the Techno wins for me, though, I would love to own BOTH again.

damn, might have just sold me on the Techno

I know I didn't start this thread, but I have been very interested as I went back and forth between the 2 knives for a couple weeks. I think since I own and love the Sage 1, that it makes sense for me to pick up the Techno to change it up a bit. For around the same price, I prefer the size/look of the Techno.
