Teflon "lube" on pivot - MISTAKE!

I use dry lubes including teflon based. Yes, it does leave a dry residue (the lube), just work it a few dozen times to get rid of any extra amount. As with most lubricants, very little is actually needed and most of the applied amount should be wiped away.

If you haven't already removed it, just manually work it until it reaches the smoothness you want.

Thanks for the advice, but I've blacklisted that product at this point. I worked it quite a bit right after and well after application, and it just wasn't getting any better. I've ordered some of the aforementioned non-toxic stuff (won't mention it by name again lest I be banned).

That sounds interesting. Have you used FrogLube on folding knives? I would LOVE to use a non-toxic CLP.

Yes, so far I have used it on my M4 Military and Paramilitary 2. The Military definitely feels better than when I used Tuf-glide, but the PM2 has always been silky smooth.

Supposedly it will "season" the metal and still preform even if you wipe the surface dry. It smells like wintergreen and softens your hands.

But the big seller for me, was that it is, as you said, a non-toxic clp. It preforms well enough on my AR15, so it is more than good enough for folding knives.

Did you clean out the original lube put on the knife from the factory? There may be a problem if you didn't. Best way to clean it is to disassemble it, but if you are not comfortable doing that, then Dawn and hot water will do ok. I know you said you "blacklisted" the product, but it may be a second try after you completely clean the pivot. I use miltec 1 for all my knives, and have found it to be an excellent product. Using heat after lubing with miltec, say a hair dryer, will help "activate" it causing it to fill/bond with the steel. Once it cools off and the excess has been wiped away you will have a very smooth action.

Think I read that you use the dry lube on the blade surface? What I've found to be good is good ole car wax, or Rennassaince Wax, though it is a bit more expensive, it only takes a little and it will PROTECT the surface.

I use Tri-flow on occasion and have had this same thing happen to me. After disassemble and a cleaning of a pretty dirty pivot, problem solved. As far my preferred lube I would have to say that cutter17 is spot on with the militec-1. It's the best.

Both knives of mine that this happened with were brand new; they may have had factory oil in them, but no dirt. (I hope no one reports me for mentioning "dirt".)

It happen twice to me also. Both were brand new knives. It wasn't dirt per say. It was black stuff in the solvent I used to clean the parts with. Factory dust and debris? I'm not sure. But, as I said a good cleaning and everything works fine. Even when using Tri-flow again, after a militec-1 treatment, and no issues what so ever.

Anybody here ever try CorrosionX?
Yeah, but if you’re looking for an aircraft grade displacement/lube I recommend ACF-50 in a liquid form/spray or Plastilube which is an anorganophyllic, synthetic high quality grease. Only the best for my Para-military, Just kidding, I usually use WD-40 on it/them (knives).
