Tek Lok carry options?

Anyone got experience customising Tek-Loks or sheaths to fit them? The recent article in Tactical Knives on Tek-Loks reminded me of a few questions. Namely - what are the parallel slots for on the sides of the Tek-Lok? Drilling custom holes in the Lok?

I had to drill holes in my Pikuni and On/Scene Tactical Bushman sheaths to take the Loks, and I like them a lot. Due to the placement of the holes in the Loks it seems like I need to drill three sets of holes in the sheath for 45 degree, horizontal and vertical carry which is annoying - i.e. my 45 degree carry set-up won't accommodate any other kind.

Seems like they can’t do IWB carry though I've seen people mention it here. Anyone got ‘em to do this?

On a related note I am bemused by the CRKT Companion which comes with two sheaths - one with a belt attachment and another "trouser carry sheath". I just can't picture it. Is this a so called static cord carry? How does it work? Tie the length of cord to your trousers and let it dangle? Is it then upside down?

Feedback gratefully received!

Re:pocket carry using a static cord. Attach the static cord to your belt (or belt loop I guess, though I wouldn't trust it) with just enough length so that the sheath can be ride in the pocket with very little slack. When drawing the knife the sheath will come out of the pocket when grabbing the handle but will be left dangling by the time you finish the draw. This is why you don't want much slack in the cord. I'm not entirely sure if this is what you were asking about, but that's how I've seen it done.

OK - that makes some sense. I carry my Delica in a similar way in it's kydex sheath. No Tek Lok feedback?

So far as I can tell the slots are so that you can fasten the Tek-Lok to your sheath even if the holes are not exactly lined up.

Simply line a couple holes up with the slots, fasten and away you go.

That way you don't have a fixed number of options.

When it first came out, I thought it was bulky and kinda dumb, but after more consideration I am working it into all my sheathing.

Marion -

That's what I thought too, until I tried it and found the slots were too narrow to accept the screws/posts.

Hey Kall....

The slots are there for that purpose,, but as you have found out, they are not large enough for the posts..
What you have to do is drill them where you want them...

Thats the only thing you can do...
