Hi Guys...

Just got my new Tek-Lok sample...

first impression of it was pretty good.. Nice design,, looks well made...

Only things that kind of bother me is the way it opens...Might be hard to get open on a large sheath...

another thing is the price of them.. Yikes!!!
would cost me over $10.00 CDN...

Whatcha guys think about them ???

I am using the Tek-Locks on some of my sheaths, I think they are great. I dont know what you mean about them being hard to open though. Can you explain Eric?

See ya, Rob

Hey Rob....

Well what I mean is tht if the mouth of the sheath where there Tek is,,, is wider than the Tek itself,, it might be a little hard to open, with it being such as slim design...
If they were even with the sides of the sheath it would be easy..

I haven't used one yet,, it was just the first impression I got from it...

You know what I mean ??

How do you find opening them, once they are on the belt ???

I don't know,, I guess in some circumstances they would be great...

yeah, what is this tek.lok thing?

Hi Lynn...

How you like'N them ???

I'm still playing with this one here,, I'll stick it one something and try it out...

Only problem for me is the price,,an extra $10-13 bucks a crack and I'm pushing myself out of the market...

They look like they'd fit the bill on a lot of different blades,, but I can't justify the price right now...Guess it's different when you are adding it into the price of a blade and rig...

I see what you mean Eric, but personally I am not concerned with them being hard to unlatch on a big sheath. Actually I would want them to be hard to unlatch is most circumstances.

I have a sample on the way from Victor. We'll see what I think of it, if nothing else!

I really like my own clips, and I agree with Normark, that, for one-off guys like ourselves utilizing these suckers may be too much. Adding $10 to the cost of a sheath that is already $30 for a knife is a lot! Adding $10 to a sheath and knife that lists at $220 is no big deal at all...

I did a knife show this past weekend in St. Louis MO. I gave my customer a choice of a Tek-lok or one of my beltloops when they bought a knife. Every person except 2 chose the Tek-Lok. I have gotten lots of e-mails in the last couple days by people making great comments about the Tek-Lok. People like it. Plus it looks really cool on the kydex sheaths I make for my "Belt Knife Series" knives. Hope that helps.

Hi Guys...

Rob...

Yup I understand what you are saying.. I don't want them opening up either..
Actually that was also one of my concerns...

If the thing ever broke,, (I haven't tested it's durability so I can't really comment), it would render the sheath useless.

Being a new product,,I don't have the trust in it yet..I trust my belt loops 100% because they are fool proof. What I don't need is dissatisfied customers at this point. So I can't justify the cost plus a product I don't know will hold up for years.

Once I know it will stand up,,I may go with them,,or if a customer specifically requests them, and understands my position then I have no problems using them.

Chiro...

Yup I agree....It's a hard sell already at $35.00 for a regular sheath. A lot of people don't understand what goes into these things...

Lynn...

I'd love to do be able to do that.. When I get some more experience with it,,I will probably do the same... The Tek Lok looks like a real kick ass product.. It has a ton of possibilities.

Thanks Much for the Input Guys, appreciate it..!

I can see price being an issue on the Tek-Loks but not durability or lack of track record. They are built like a tank, and Spyderco is using them on there Moran model. They have probably sold tens of thousands on them, and would have changed things if they had a single doubt about them. I have heard fantastic things about your sheaths, and I am sure your belt loops are great too. You may not want to make the change, but don't doubt the quality of the Tek-Lok, becuase it is awesome.

Hi Lynn...

Thanks much..

It's not that I really doubt them,, I just have to feel 100% confident with them before I can say " Yup Best Thing Going!"

It's more of a thing where I have to convince myself about it,,before I can convince my customers,, that this is the way to go...Just lack of experience with it..

I guess it's just the perfectionist in me.

Thanks Lynn,, I take the advice seriously from you guys..
