tell me about aftermarket motorcycle exhaust cans...

The R1s have only one side of the headlights that are for low beams if they are both on the high beams are on.

Stay away from D&D they are loud as hell.

Micron makes some nice sounding pipes

Corrected! Doh! ;):D Maybe I was making assumptions off older ones. The R1s were popular in that crowd and range from '99 - '06, I think.

Heck, what do I know? I'm not riding sport bikes but plunking along on V-twins. ;)

I know this is from 2003.
I just wanted to show you an example of a Dyno Chart. I have found these useful to understand where and why an engine reacts the way it does when you are trying to use and get the most from your engine.

How often do you have the throttle wide open and the tach on the redline?

That's the only time you're using all the horsepower you already have.

Thatwould be important if thats the only place you felt the difference.

No Suppose this gives a 5% increase across the power band with then it might be better. Having more grunt down low.

More hp/tq in the usable range is usually the goal.

A less restrictive muffler is not going to give you a 5% horsepower increase throughout the rpm range. That only affects the top end, because that's the only time when it's the muffler that's restricting the engine's breathing.

A tuned header could improve bottom end torque if that's the rpm range it's tuned for (sacrificing ranges it's not tuned for, of course) but that doesn't seem to be an option here.

Somebody already suggested changing the gearing. If the rider continues to shift by the speedometer and not the tach that could be somewhat helpful, but my idea is to learn to use what you have first and then after that you might begin to have some useful ideas about improving what you have....

I have been riding for 35 years, and done a lot of hot-rod modifications to my bikes. While it was fun at the time, I wouldn't do it again. After a pile of your money is spent, you still want more power, Its a guy thing I suppose, we can't leave things alone. Now I leave my bikes stock. they start properly, don't leak oil, are reliable, and I'm happy. plus, when it's time to sell, more people want a used bike that hasn't been messed with.

Nice overall gain above the 4500 mark ranges. But......

Look at that BIG loss right around 3000 RPM. Insignificant? You know, where 75% of your riding is when you are just cruising. ;) :p :thumbdn:

You are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Just be informed.

All that said, I love the rumbling sound of a V-twin. I'm not that much of a prude. Just realistic and have BEEN there.
