Just came across this picture, i dont know if its traditional or not, but check out that double temper line, its perfect! Its so good, it looks fake, but its real on this $9,000 knife.

Sscchwinnngg! :D

Does the temper line need to be wavy on a good knife, or is that a creative thing the man does, similar to different types of damascus patterns?

For more traditional style blades (actually short swords, but that's just a technicality)...lessee...

Wow. Thank you for the generous amount of source material to look at.

Most of the time you'll find that the shape of the hamon is more of an aesthetic quality than anything else. Most of my favorite blades have straight hamon (suguha) but there are often many other activities to admire instead of just the most apparent.

Hi Boink. Yeah, the problem with Snody is his knives are so in demand and he is so backordered, he simply doesnt need to get back to you. ........

So, I guess this alleviates the "need" for common courtesy?

No one's going to touch that one. Who wants to get on a popular maker's sh*t list?

Let's just say the man is busy and may, at some point in the future, go full time making knives.

Once you get popular and sell whatever you make in bulk to dealers, who has the time for individual orders, I guess.

Anyhow, back to Asian blades talk ....... :)

guy to check out is Dan Pfanenstiel the 1st blade pictured I got from him at the 01' BAKCA then 2 more later and now have another that I picked up from him at the 02' BAKCA that will come with all custom fittings made also by him

Hey Guys,

If I have failed to return an email or phone call it was not intentional or in any way related to my backlog. I work a minimum of 65 hours a week and travel extensively. I am in the process of moving my shop to South Texas and have driven about 7500 miles this month.

I will not be taking orders this year but I do apologize for getting behind on my correspondence. I am grateful for the interest in my knives and try to get back with everyone but the reality is that sometimes I do miss messages and emails.

BTW. I do not know if the Jones brothers like Sushi but they had some very nice large Japanese Style blades at the Southeastern Show this year. I spent a considerable amount of time looking at them.

Regards,
Mike Snody

Point very well taken, Mr. Snody!! That's a touché if I ever felt one on my butt. All meant in fun, as mentioned. :)

(Waynes World dudes: We're not worthy - we're not worthy!!... ) LOL!
