Well I got this off my very good friend who got it off a retired knifemaker. He was told it still works. He never used it and sold it to me for a very very good price. Has anybody used one of these etchers?

That's exactly the same unit I have Frank. It is a GREAT etcher... probably the best one you can buy.

Looks like a Marking Methods etcher.

They are good machines and they don't come cheap.

You did good if you got it as you say "a very very good price"

Take care

What they said. I traded an almost identical one for some axis antler a while back and have been nothing but happy with it. I still haven't gotten everything figured out about how to do it consistently, but that's not the machine's fault. Good purchase!

i picked up one of these units for free from my sheetmetal guy. he does all my custom metal work for my roofing business and we got to talking and said come back here and see if you can use this. Went way back in shop and dusted of a few boxes and pulled out that same model u have. its missing the yellow case thing and the etcher pad but i got it for freesince he has had it for years and never used it. i also got about 10 large bottles of various chemicals to do ecthing now i just need to figure out how to use it and get some stencils made

Hello Dakora 11,

I've been useing a Marking Methods etcher for over 20 years. One thing you should know about all the bottles of electrolytes that came with your unit. Marking Methods tells me their solutions only have a 2 year shelf life. I date each bottle I recive from them. Be sure to look over their list of electroytes, as they offer many types, and each one is designed for very specific metals. They also have a $ 75.00 minimum order
requirement.
