Tell me about Rangers, RD7s and 9s.

No worries, tka1, the more pics the better!
I ended up ordering the same one diceman has, a recurve with satin finish,
and orange micarta scales. If anyone hasn't seen it yet diceman has a lot of pics of the RD9 vs. a dogfather in the test ing review forum.
Justin is a great guy to deal with and his prices are great.

thanks Liam. it was seeing diceman's that really wowed me. beautiful knife. make sure you give us pics of yours, too! any word on when you can expect to receive it?

Glad you liked my review guys! I just enjoy posting pics of my favorite knives seeing some action. Justin at Ranger will hook you up with whatever you want at an excellent price. For real hard and heavy chopping, I DO prefer the grip on the Dogfather - but for general utility work, the RD9 is gonna be tough to beat. I did some chopping with it today, and cleared a lot of tall shrubs and weeds by the river when I was tromping around and fishing.

Moodino's designs are also real good looking.

The RD9 will definately take whatever you can give it. The RD9 is also a far superior chopper than the RD7 (I have both) - if you plan on doing any chopping, go w/ the 9. The 7 is great for a tactical sized blade, but if you want a camp knife, it may be a little on the small side when you start chopping and splitting.

I really like that Blue G10 that I've got on my RD4 and RD9 recurve - Justin can do quite a few different color combinations between the grips (brown/black/ODgreen micarta, and blue/orange G10 - maybe more) and the spacers (red/white/blue/black). Just give him a call - great guy to work with - and very fast delivering blades (never taken him more than a day to get my blades set up and sent - I've ordered 4 from him).

Hope that helps some. I also did a mod to the Ranger sheath - pix of it on the Ranger forum on KF.

Liam - good choice on the blade - the orange grips will look awesome - can't wait to see your pictures (gonna put some on the Ranger forum too?) - I really like my RD9 recurve a lot - it fills that niche between machette and chopper quite well - razor sharp from Justin too - thanks again for recommending that the guys look at my pix. I've posted quite a few picture sets at Scrapyard and Ranger forums, but you'd all have to dig a little as they get burried pretty fast!!

I just ordered a couple of semi customs from Justin myself. He was amazing to deal with and really patient.. I had a number of questions. His prices shocked me as well. Ended up ordering instead of waiting like I had wanted to... Didn't want to miss out.

Chris - I can't wait to see that blue/black G10. Did Justin have to order that in for you, or is he making it himself? That'll be pretty interesting, and a pefect match for the blue/black CGFBM.
