Tell me about this Buck sheath

Handle is shorter and the knife would fit more down in the sheath. The width is the same for the 110 and 112 so that isn't a factor.

Here's the two side by side. Both 110 and 112 are pushed as deep in the sheath as they will go.

Sheath arrived yesterday. When I opened the packaging, the smell alone was worth the money. But seriously, it's a beauty and my old Ranger fits perfectly with just the right amount of snuggness - if that's a word.

Dave's pictures do show the 110 being high so the 112 would fit better.

You're right, that is a 112 in a 112 sheath and the knife is pushed as deep as it will go.

Yep, my 112 fits the same way. BTW, do you know if these sheaths were made by Buck in the Buck factory?

That's a good question and I don't know the answer.

They really are exceptionally well made sheaths for a production company. They're so nice, it makes me wonder if they were contracted out to a local saddle maker.

To add to this topic, after owning this sheath for a month, I decided it needed a little improvement. As it was mentioned earlier in this thread, because of its thick construction, the sheath tends to be a little stiff and the knife fits a little tight. The one thing that I wasn't sure about when the sheath arrived was its light natural color, so last night I decided to oil it. I untied the leather lace, slipped the pouch from the retainer strap, wiped the leather down with Acetone, and began to apply several coats of Neatsfoot oil.

The result was an overall softer, more pliable sheath, a much improved fit of the knife, and the color is a beautiful saddle tan. Now I really like this sheath!
