Tell me how I am supposed to take this apart!

I am not that familiar with Ironwood so maybe it might be a different type of wood. The store is well known to me as it's my father's client, hence the great price...

I am confident that it is "authentic" and am sort of leaning toward someone at the store messing with it. They sell all sorts of items so luck of the draw and I got a salesman with little knowledge of knives. I took tomorrow off to go back and talk to them.

Either way it will get resolved somehow.

What type of wood might it be then?

If it is a darker wood with burl I would guess that it is Bubinga. Satinwood is very light. Here's a pic of my 2008 Small LE with Bubinga along side a Classic with Ironwood.

I'm a sucker for dark wood ;)

I ended up calling CR and it is on its way back to them for inspection and "repair". The store would have sent it back for me, but it was easier for me. Now I just have to carry my small until it comes back.
