HERE is some reading material & welcome aboard :D
it seems that i made have been told a lie out here in california by an aged mexican man in 1978.he told me that down in mexico a long time ago in school education that a teacher told the class that shortly after the capture of alamo,a mexican officer ws carrying this famous knife until the famous battle of san hosente(spelling) and that after the end of that fight, americans were headed back accross the mighty mississippi river and the frontiersmen knew the original knife to keep it's keen sharpness because it truly was a one of a kind knife and would never dull regardless of what it struck and these soldiers on board a big boat repeatedly struck it on horse shoes on the deck and it never dented or dulled,so they felt they had the real mc"coy and since every one loved jim bowie so much, they felt nobody should ever own this part of american history,so they threw it in the river for a resting place..

it seems that from the mexican man i met in 1978,the knife was made from a meorite melted to mix with steel from a blaclsmith in either louisiana or arkansas and that's why the blade of this particular knife was nearly impossible to damage as could be honed sharp enough to shave with cQUOTE=Thomas Linton]Let's all sing:

"JIm Bowie, Jim Bowie,
He was a fighter and mighty adventuring man.
Jim Bowie, Jim Bowie,
Battled for right with a powerful hand."

Ain't TV wonderful?!

I thought the "Original Bowie Knife" was made in Germany -- many, many times. :D

but i could be wrong i don't know for sure does anyone really know for sure? :p[/QUOTE]
