Tell me more about the different Beckers...

Young Cutter:
I own the Patrol Machete and the Combat Bowie. Both are excellent knives and as tough as anyone could ask.

The Patrol Machete (BK6) is great for light brush and does a pretty good job on the heavier stuff, but it is primarily a chopper and not a general-use knife.

The Combat Bowie (BK9) is my first choice as an all-around survival knife. It strikes a good compromise of weight, length, and balance to handle everything from heavy chopping to food prep with reasonable efficiency and comfort.

I suspect the Combat Bowie would be perfect for you. And if you don't want to carry something quite that big try the Combat/Utility (BK7) instead.
