Does anyone know anything about Ontario Knife Co.'s proprietary "Diamond Steel"? BQM and USCAV are selling their new USMC bayonets made of this stuff. ATC is making a new Brend Hatchet out of it too. So it is supposed to be very tough. What about edge holding, corrosion resistance, composistion?

The Diamond Steel series feature Ontario’s exclusive OKC Diamond Steel™, which provides maximum resistance to breakage and high wear resistance. The impact toughness of this proprietary steel exceeds that of A2, D2, and CPM-M4 steel.

Damn, another INFI type steel. But how good is it really? And does OKC really own the rights to it.

why would that be? Dare I hope for a joint venture in the furure:eek:

Being tougher than A2, D2 and CPM-M4 does not warrent the claim of maximum resistance to breakage. This would be akin to claiming to be the fastest man alive because you can beat Butterbean in a foot race.

D2 and CPM-M4 are very brittle steels, using them as a reference for toughness in the above manner is simply hype. A2 is decently tough, however its toughness is exceeded two to one by CPM-3V, and significantly more by other cutlery steels.
