Tell me something about my old BlackJack Knife

I recently lucked into an older discontinued version of what I believe BlackJack calls the "Classic" series, a Model 6. It's a 6-inch knife, fixed blade, that looks more like their current Model 7. It's nothing at all like their current Model 6.

A full tang of course, with the blade guard as part of the flat blade material, and not a separate piece, coming to a flared quillion on the bottom and a finger guard on top.

Marked Model 6 next to the logo and U.S 545711-1 CDU S.S 1746 on the other side. Any clue as to a manufacturing date?

I am a newbie, I don't think I can post pictures yet or I would paste some up.

I own a gun store/ hardware store / homebrewshop, so I have a lot of parts knowledge, I'm not a dummy, but I'm not a knowledgeable knife guy. Maybe you guys can help?

Thanks and I look forward to learning a lot here.

We love pics and anyone can post them!

Upload them to a free photo hosting site (like Photobucket or Imgur etc) and then copy and past the link provided. For Photobucket, the IMG links are the ones you want.

Look forward to seeing this one.

Thanks for the tip. I just set up my first Imgur account to upload some pics, let's see how it goes!
Don't know when it was made or where it was made (other than US). Anybody?

Welcome. Anything you want to know besides manufacturing date?

Anything you might know, approximate born on date, other more detailed model info other than the obvious Model 6 which seems to be obsolete. Where made?

Thanks again!

Thanks for that, the Model 6 prototype looks just like mine, except my blade is a bit longer. Just note; that website has so nasty spyware on it, so be careful.

The tang is a little different also.

That sure looks like a short version of the Mamba from the early 90's.
