I dont really need to know why.....I already know.... Im a knife nut!! I just really want some opinions and pictures of some hard use with this knife. Long term feelings on it, oh yeah and did I mention pics! Let's see em!

I own maybe 50 Spydercos, and the Techno may be the only one that I've sold. To me, it is style over substance, meaning that I don't really see what the point of a short, thick blade is. It is certainly not made for slicing, and to me slicing is what knives are supposed to do.

Now, subjectively you (or anyone) may think its the best knife ever, and that's groovy. You clearly want one, and I think you should get it. You may love it, and you can always recoup 80% of its purchase price if you don't.

There is something sorta cool about it. The titanium, the clip, the blue backspacer. So as jewelry it totally rocks. But for peeling apples and doing knife stuff - not so much.

I completely agree with powernoodle. The Techno is not the best slicer, but it is a very cool and quirky little big knife. The design and workmanship is superb, but it is not for everyone. I think that I am approaching 100 Spyders in my collection and the Techno IS one of the few that gets carried, but not as often as my Caly 3 or PM2. And remember, you don't not need one. :D

I figured it would not be great at cutting due to the thick blade. I tend to like knives that are in the beefy side. I've carried and loved the SNG, SMF, XM-18, and Medfords.

Something about this big little guy appeals to me. Thanks for the info guys!!

Anybody have any pics they want to share?

I find the thicker blade didn't hang up on heavy cardboard a, same goes for Southard, search on YouTube and you will find lots of cutting comparisons

I can get a solid grip on it, though I do have smallish hands:

This knife is fantastic in the hand for being so small, disappears in the pocket, and is a better slicer than you'd think, though not nearly on the level of the thin-stock Spyderco knives i.e. Delica, Sage, et al. It's also a unique design, and I personally like the looks of it. If you're buying a user, buy the CTS-XHP version as it's more common. If you're buying a shelf/safe knife, or something you won't carry often, you might get the S30V "mistake" version, as it's less common and probably more collectible, almost like an unofficial sprint run.

i have never owned a techno, but i have some brad southard's and can say that 4.5mm blade is not the most practical in the world! and given its size i don't think you would be happy with it!in the practical world that is.

I have a Techno and love it. The thick blade is awesome and it excels at tough jobs. We were driving our RZR out in the desert with a group and one of them blew out the rear end so we had to pull both axles so he could drive back to the trucks. I used my Techno to cut the CV boots from the axles. There were four of them and the Techno powered right through each one. That poor little knife was so full of grease, but it worked well.

I did replace the back spacer with the anodized Blue standoffs I got from an Ebay seller. Fit and finish is amazing. Oh yeah, the first night I owned this knife it gave me 4 stitches to my thumb - telling me who was boss :)

I thought about getting a techno for a long time but decided to wait for the Lil Lum instead. You might check that one out too

Great pics and just the stories that Im looking for.

You just do. Awesome knife.

Great Picture

The techno was in my EDC rotation for a year and I loved the knife at the time . Stopped using if for about six month and I went to put it back into my rotation and I just can't get back into it . If I was you I'll try to pick one up at the exchange . IMHO it's not worth MAP .

You need one because I want one and therefore need YOU to post pictures of yours so that I can live vicariously through your knife purchases [emoji16]
