Temperance or Manix

Hi guys, got a question for everyone.

I've decided on a hatchet + small blade combo for shorter camping trips with the old lady instead of a big fixed blade which she think is excessive. I was two seconds away from gettiing a temperance when the Manix caught my eyes.

I was wondering if anyone tried using their Manix in the "boonies", or are they mostly sitting in trousers around town.

A couple of reviews for you.

I have the Mini Manix and it is a very tough knife. It feels good in the hand. Good S30V steel blade with G10 handle.

Here is a couple pics of my Mini Manix. There is really nothing mini about it! Shown with the Caly3.

The Spyderco Manix is built like a Sherman Tank. I always take mine along on my camping trips along with an axe for chopping.

When you say sherman tank you mean that's is tough right? Not that is much smaller and weaker than the leopard?

How does the mini hold up? I usually ends up using the knife for everything that is not for the axe, prying digging etc.

As much as I would hate to see a folder used for digging, if there is one that works, it would be the Mini-Manix or regular Manix. These knives must be held, to appreciate their quality and solid build.

I have both a temperance and a manix and both would probably end up serving the purpose well. Since you are carrying a hatchet I would probably go with the manix.

I got a second hand manix that has seen some abuse and it still locks up solid.
It was battened and used to chop and it still has a bank vault lock up. That being said I prefer the temp for those kind of camp chores.

Yes I"m aware that they aren't MEANT for it, but nethier is my 4 yrs old native. The tip has been rounded off, the swedge bent, but it still cuts like a razor!!

I love my mini manix, I beat this knife almost daily in the bodyshop. This is a real tuff knife. I don't have a temperance but I can say I would take this knife in the woods and beat it. The mini will ride a little better in your pocket than a temperance. (he he)nReally I would put a mini in your pocket and not look back.

I bought one for myself for my birthday, and this thing is HUGE. My gf got me a seal 2000, and the mini manix weights about half the sog. Its seems to me that the manix will see a lot more sunlight than the sog just for the fact that I can put in my pocket while I go on dayhikes. The sog I'll keep for when I watch predator!
