Tempering Question

Once I put the blade in the oven for the first hour do I flip it over for the second?

It really doesn't matter when tempering. If you have a rack, set the blade on its spine or edge. Otherwise, just lay flat on its side. The whole blade will be at 400 either way.
 
I was watching forged in fire yesterday and I realized that they didn't put it in an oven for 2 hours , is there a different way the pros do it?

Dave, it's tv, they don't show everything... It's my understanding that the tempering is done off camera, after shooting is done.
