Im going out camping Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the family and I want to take a few knives that I dont have sheaths for yet. Do any of you know a easy homemade sheath that works out ok? Or a cheap and easy method, that i can get the stuff i need from walmart or similar?

I tried using a cheap nylon sheath that went to a machete for the NMFSH but it cut it down the side and poked right thru the bottom LMAO, So im just looking for something i can make out of easy to get supplies, that will just be for this one weekend.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks

WW

It will depend on what you have for parts. most anything can be done if you have some duct tape:D

Ive seen cardboard from postal boxes, pvc pipe, hardwood flooring, strips of wood , all used . THe wood was done like a leg splint and taped up.

You can slip in belt for a decent cross draw in pinch.

I took a luggage belt that had clips just right for holes on kydex and still use it for shoulder rig for fbmle

I got duct tape :) and boxes, and belts. I just found some videos on youtube!!

Thanks man

I made a nice sheath for a Hellrazor with a cardboard box, old pair of jeans, glue and some duct tape. It lasted for years. Cut out all the parts with cardboard, reinforce the belt loop with cut up jeans and finished it off with glue and duct tape. Worked great.

If you have a quick check on here you should find a thread I did on improvising a sheath. I think there's also one called something like 'sprinkler sheath'.

Basically buy/scrounge/find some plastic piping, cut to length and put in the oven to soften. Then it's a case of inserting the knife of choice and compressing between two boards (foam pads if you have them, don't worry if you don't). Tape a paracord loop to the sheath to allow you to attach the sheath to your belt of pack.

I liked the bacon sheath someone posted a wile back!;)
Never mind, it would just get ate.
Milk jug and PVC sounds promising though.

Thanks for these creative ideas! I like the improvisation. I once made - and still use - a pocket pistol (Ruger LCP) pliable holster out of a back pocket that was removed from an old pair of jeans. Still works great!...Cheers.

I certainly hope that we get to see what you come up with for a temporary sheath.

I looked around for some pipe, but I believe im just going to do a cardboard and duct tape sheath :) Its only to keep my gear from getting cut up this weekend anyway.

I will make it tomorrow evening and post pictures.... But im not a very crafty person so dont expect anything pretty lmao.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Have your Crown and coke in hand and watch the awesomeness unfold.

Duct tape and some cardboard. works every time. not the best lookin but works for just camping. I've used this method once or twice. even made a belt loop out of duct tape

Try using some of the plastic clam shell that is impossible to open on Christmas morning.
