Can this model be purchased right now? If so where? Thanks for any and all help. I always wanted a "Mini Manix" with a liner lock!
 
Thanks markksr. My order has been placed. What can you or anybody tell me about that steel? I know Spyderco only uses good steel but I've never heard of that one.
 
Thanks, just grabbed one. I also noticed the Byrd Wings model was in stock on their site too, almost snagged that as well.

Spyderco uses 8Cr13Mov in its Byrd line. Hardened to about 61 HRC performance of this steel is simply outstanding for knives in this price range.
 
Thanks Dog of War. I knew it would be good steel! Could somebody post a picture of a Mini Manix beside a Tenacious? I would dearly love to see that comparison.
 
Having just got the Tenacious last week, I was impressed with the quality of the knife given the price. The G-10 handles are great, the lockup feels and sounds rock solid and the blade is very sharp. I touched it up even further on the extra fine stones and it's scary sharp now. I can't put this knife down. Others may refuse to give this knife a chance since it's made in China but when you actually see and check it out in person, you'll see it's easily worth the $35-$50 you may have paid for it. I bought mine from Spyderco directly and I may just buy another. The only thing to watch for is to move your thumb back off the compression lock when closing the knife since the blade runs up right to the handle. No bottom finger choil on this guy.

Thanks Spyharpy! Those were some beautiful pictures. I actually have both knives coming my way. I bought the Mini off BF's and before it could make it here I bought a Tenascious. How ironic is it that the one thing I would of changed about the Mini would have been to put a liner lock on it! Now I have the best of both worlds!

Did they recently email you? I ordered mine a few hours after you and I haven't heard a thing from them about the knife being O.O.S. I guess I shouldn't be expecting the knife anytime soon. :(
 
Curses I wanted to hate this knife and now I want one. If it had a back lock like the Chinook3 and the manix I would be totally helpless before the Tenacious.
 
I'm a bit behind in the knife world after a bit of a hiatus...these still made in Japan? Or are they made in China?
