Tenacious love?

I wanted to see how many of you really love and appreciate the usefulness and value of the Tenacious. I have lots of high end knives but I really enjoy reaching for my Tenacious most of the time for an edc knife. The size is perfect for me and it really is a great looking knife. I own a PM2, Sage 3, Delica 4, Gayle Bradley 2, and other high end knives made by different high end makers, but I really enjoy carrying the Tenacious for some reason. Am I in the minority here or do some of you guys feel the same about this knife?

well it is a design by Eric and it has familiar lines with the manix I'd say. great ergos, affordable. perhaps you are carrying it more because you don't mind using it harder then the higher end ones? I feel like that sometimes lol

There is something about the Tenacious for me--both the knife itself and how it fueled my knife-collecting addiction. I've carried a pocket knife as long as I can remember--years ago mostly SAKs or Buck lock backs or knock-offs, graduating to clip-its maybe fifteen years ago. Still, I wasn't carrying anything special--Gerbers, Bucks, and starting 5 or so years ago a CRKT, a SOG, a Bear. Nothing over 50-60 bucks, though.

Two years ago I bought a combo-edge Tenacious on the Big River site as I found the shape and that hole intriguing. I just fell in love with it and was amazed by the quality/F&F of a Chinese-built knife. Couldn't get it out of my pocket. And that knife just burst the dam for me. Two years, several grand, and a Gold membership here later I've got dozens of knives--Spydies, Benchmades, CRKs, Wilson Combats, Al Mars, better Bucks, ZTs, and others all priced over or way over that Tenacious.

I've bought a few cheaper ones along the way, too, but none get the love that that original Tenacious gets (well, maybe my RAT). As a carpenter I usually carry a higher end knife to work, say my KA CF Sebenza, but need another cheaper one I'm not afraid to beat on and that's almost always that two-year-old Tenacious. I'll fondle and play with a Sebenza or something right next to my Tenacious and don't love that $35 knife any less. Lotta bang for the buck and just a great knife!

It's picked up a couple brothers along the way too….

The Tenacious was my first Spyderco; it was all I carried for a couple of years.

It will always have a special place in my accumulation, but I don't EDC it because honestly the PM2 kicked it to the curb.

But I still cherish it, fondle it, and occasionally use it.

You never forget your first ;)

I've retired mine since it cut my out of a flipped car(stuck seatbelt). It is a great design and actually pushed me to finally get a manix.
It was also my very first spyderco, which now I own about 12-13 of them so it does have a permanent place in my collection.

I picked up one used and it quickly became my favorite knife. The quality of construction is better than knives costing 2x and 3x more. The size, blade shape, and smooth blade opening sold me right away. I owned a Byrd Cara Cara 2 but that is now in my dresser hanging out with my other seldom used knives.

Mine is one of the most used knives in my collection.
Probably because it's in the console of my vehicle so it's really never out of rotation.
It gets used for everything and because it's a value folder I'm not afraid to abuse it, and I do.
As soon as it gets some more patina I'll snap a few pics.

I like it.

Right size.
Smooth.

Just wish it had better steel.

What he said. The only downside is that the 8cr13mov requires a touch-up after much any amount of use. Wouldn't have to be anything super, either. Aus8, 440, etc.

It's a great series of knives but I actually prefer the Persistence to the Tenacious but I do keep the Tenacious permanently in my car as a back up.

I also have and love the Persistance. I guess I should've made the title of this thread "Value line Love" because they are all great knives.

My first Spyderco as well. It's hard not to love it, since it looks great AND I'm not afraid to abuse it at that price point. One of, if not the, "sliciest" knives in my collection.

Great knife and I cannot believe how sharp it was out of the box. Both of my boys own a couple each.

Its a good blade. I carried it today and on many days. It does everything I ask of and you can't beat the price. I also carry one with full serrations.

It is my first spyderco and the one that gave me the spyder bite, I still carry it in my rotation!

I have been looking at them lately. I lost my delica 4 that i carried for close to 10 yrs. How many of you think I'll be disappointed if I chose it over another delica? I know I really liked the VG 10 in the delica.

I personally prefer the Delica over the Tenacious, but that might be just me, if you could try to get your hands on an actual tenacious to see how you feel for the knife. Cheers!

No love here, every Tenacious I have had got blade play often and the steel was the worst performing 8Cr I have ever seen. The edge retention on Spyderco's 8Cr is atrocious, especially compared to Kershaw's. Whatever Spyderco is doing to it, they're doing it wrong! As far as value, it really isn't a good value. You have Chinese manufacture using low grade materials in a knife that still runs close to $50. Spend another $15 and get a Delica or Endura that's made in Japan and uses vastly superior materials all around.

Okay I have to say I am kind of over the Tenacious, at one time I had three Blue and Green Sprint as well as a standard blacked out one. Overall not a bad knife but I find there are cheaper better knives, Rat 1, Real Steel H6, Utilitac 2. Again it's not bad just not as great as its sometimes made out to be. I do have a fairly favorable review of it on my channel but I've sold all mine and don't anticipate getting another one.
