Tenacious or Persistance

Looks great to me. Variety is good and the proportions look appropriate for the size.
I need to check one out.

Ok, its been a few days now that I've been front pocket carrying the Persistance. No big jobs really just your every day duty stuff...cut some rope, packaging, used it on some grilled chicken and even cut some cardboard. Its just a nice knife and there is enough size difference to matter for pocket carry. I really like it.

I do have a question about the maker of this knife. Is it the same one that produces the Byrd line? I have a Cara Cara and its a really good knife as well.

I'm actually somewhat surprised at myself for being keen on a Chinese knife but these are nice pieces. I've fount this steel to be quite good. I read on the Cutlery Science site that reviewed steels...that they compare it favorable to some Sandvick steels. Anyway. the Persistance is a very nice and handy knife as is the Tenacious. And if Sal OK's a jumbo version of this design, I'll buy it too.

None for me no choil..........
I guess I am interested why the lack of a choil is a deal breaker for you sixheads?? Is it appearance or do you feel it a safety issue or just a tiny bit of edge that is not real usable?

Anyway I can't decide if I should try to buy a real Manix full size or wait and see if a Jumbo Tenacious comes out. :) Not the worse problem to have.

I love knives without choils. You get more cutting edge for your blade.

But less control over that cutting edge.

It's like having a V8 with no brakes or suspension verses a tuner V6 with racing shocks and struts. One might win out on a long stretch of road, but on tight corners and maneuvering the other has it packed in the bag.

Once again, I have no idea what tiny little things you guys are cutting that you need to hold the knife between the middle of your forefinger and your thumb. For bigger jobs, that's just too close.

I used to really hate choils until I got a Native. I changed my mind a little: it's ok, but I still wouldn't want them on most of my knives. More cutting edge, please.

Thanks for the pics Flatlander! I didn't hear of this till now.
I actually thought the Tenacious was going to be this size
when I first bought it. When I opened the box I was surprised
at how big it was. It's not the biggest folder made, but much
larger than expected.

Do you (or anybody) happen to have a width/thickness comparison
shot of the two blades? I'm considering getting one, but the thing
is I want to know if the feel of carry will be significantly different/smaller
than my Tenacious. Otherwise not really worth getting.

This is a good picture showing...yes the Persistance is physically smaller. That difference has a lot to do with shapes and angles that have differences.

As far as width, the Tenacious is 1/8th wider (as measured approx. accross the spydie hole blade edge to back of frame).
Across the back the Persistance is about 40mm thick and the Tenacious is another 1/16th or 2mm.

You'll have to be the judge if its small enough. I think it carry's very nicely in my front pocket.
