tenacious shortage?

I tried to order a Tenacious today.
I was told that it is out of stock.
I also noticed that a number of sites list this knife as out of stock.
Is there a tenacious shortage?
If so, does anyone know when they will be available?

Thanks.

M.

I know it doesn't help you, but my local knife shop has plenty. I thought one of the big reasons for producing the Tenacious in China was to insure mass production. Like spyderknut said, I'm sure the next batch is right around the corner.

Actually, there are quite a few out there. We just didn't make enough on the first run, we couldn't guess the response accurately.

There are more on the way, more in the works and more planned.

The Tenacious was a very controversial model when it was first announced some months ago. The main issue was over the country of origin. It seems there are many opinions on manufacturing in China.

Looking at it now, we would have to conclude that the model was well received with sales being positive in most parts of the world.

We had some issues with the serrations, which are in the process of being refined to "our" specs. Other than that, comments have been favorable.

As always, I really appreciate your candor on this. I am thinking of buying a CE tenacious — could you elaborate on this issue? I would really like some more information before I decide which model to buy.
Thanks,
Chris

My friend just bought a CE Tenacious and he had no problems with the serrations. Maybe the pattern is not as aggressive as the usual Spyder Edge.

You should def get one, its a great knife.

Hi Hesparus,

They're plenty sharp. We just want to do some minor tuning.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the current Spyderedge on the Tenacious. However, I think you'll see a more refined edge on future models.

I got the plain edged version. Best knife for the money I have ever purchased. Would love to see these offered with some kind of super steel in a sprint run. :)

This is why I love Spyderco so much! My friend has a SE Tenacious that I've had the pleasure of using and I never felt the serrations didn't perform up to Spyderco's standards... and yet Sal is still improving and making them better. When great isn't good enough...

The Tenacious is a great knife and an excellent model to start exploring the idea of China-made Spydies. I wish you luck in getting your hands on one!
