Tenacious vs Cara Cara

I have both I purchased the cara cara first and loved it ,a very nice knife not even thinking about the price in fact I like it better than my $65 Vex .Along came the tenacious and I have not carried the cara cara since it`s not even in my rotation much anymore. The tenacious is comfortable the edge is thin and sharp out of the box and it doesn`t look like you might murder someone with it like most of my other edc knives.

Another thing to take into consideration are the locks. Some people cant stand liner locks, some cant stand lock backs. I like both but the person the gift is intended for might have a preference.

I would go with the Tenacious, albeit that is just me. They will both perform quite well though.

It's gonna be a personal preference so everyone's comments don't really matter.

But if you want MY opinion.......Tenacious.;)

Cara cara if they will really beat on it (i mean really beat the thing) Tenacious if they won't. Just because I think the lockback is a little stronger.

i am ending up with BOTH.

receiver choose his gift. the other i keep.

Neither of you is going to lose out on that deal! Talk about a 'win-win' situation! You guys may even want to try trading off for a while, later on down the road, just to get a chance to use both and compare 'em.:thumbup:

an excuse to get myself another knife :o

Of course! That goes without saying around here. You can't call yourself even an amateur knife knut if you miss an opportunity like that. ;)

Keep us posted; I don't have any Byrds yet, and the Tenacious is on my list. I'd be interested to hear a review, and also what your friend thinks of his - whichever he chooses.

thx - cpr

the cara cara is probably just as good, but it looks a ton scarier that the tenacious.

the tenacious might be a hair better, probably cause of the ffg

I have a Tenacious but have a lightweight FRN Cara Cara on order. I also have an Endura 4 Wave. If the Cara Cara is anything like the Endura, I believe that it will be more of a self-defense knife (due to it's size) as opposed to the EDC type knife like the Tenacious.

I ordered the Cara Cara because I wanted a non-waved Endura but didn't feel like spending the money on one and after watching Nutnfancy's review, came to the conclusion that it's a reasonable fascimile of one for a lot less $$$.

I've been EDCing the Tenacious for a few weeks now, but I notice that it really digs into my hip but the Endura's slimmer profile is more comfortable to carry.

So my conclusion is that if you want an EDC, get the Tenacious. If you want a SD knife, go for the Cara Cara.

I carry a stainless non-serrated cara everywhere I go except schools and airports. It has never let me down. I am still shocked at the fit, finish and quality for the price.
