Just curious what the deal with this knife is? It doesn't happen every day that Spyderco sells wout of something. Was it unexpected demand or planned low production?

I've been looking for my next knife for a long time and this one looks perfect, but it seems to be completely unavailable. When is another production run scheduled? If at all?

... and the funny thing is: The main aspect of the Tenacious is in fact to be readily available in large quantities.... :D

Read through this thread, where Sal himself explains what the Tenacious is all about.

I am pretty sure that it will be available again soon.

Mine came today, plain edge, and for what I paid for it, I am really impressed! Reminds me of a small manix, with a liner lock. 4 position clip, nice g-10, steel liners, GREAT blade, for $32!?!? I must be dreaming! :) This has to be the best bang for the buck I've ever seen in a knife.

Thank you Spyderco! Thank you Sal!

Hope everyone gets their hands on one.

+1 The Tenatious is way up there in terms of bang for the buck.:)

It is a great value no doubt. Ive had mine for 2 weeks and i love it. I will probably buy another when there are more in circulation.

I have a Plain Edge one and I plan on getting a SpyderEdge one as soon as I can find one :)

I even prefer this knife to others that where more expensive.

Hmmm, maybe I'll get a PE and SE pair when they are available again... I was tempted by the Byrd Wings (love the dyad concept) but it looks to bulky for EDC. Any idea who will likely be selling these tenacious blades when they come back out?

Hi,

I think just any shop that normally sells Spydies plus perhaps some high-volume chain dealers, since this was one of the reasons to produce this model in China in the first place (?)

2. The large chains require large volume and will not tolerate missing or delaying shipments. Our current makers of Spyderco brand models do not have the capacity to service these large customers. Even our own factory in Golden has to push hard to service Wal-Mart with the one model they carry (the Native).

I bet New Graham Knives will stock them again quite soon.

I scored my PE from GrandPrairie knives, they only have SE ones in stock when I last checked.....same goes for Knifecenter (only SE, CE in stock)...

Based on early feedback it seems like Spyderco may have a huge winner. I think a lot of knife enthusiasts are skeptical about China made knives- this one may help to shatter the conception that China made knives are of lower quality. I'm curious to see for myself. Don't have one yet.

The great thing about the introduction of this knife at Wal-Mart is that as Spyderco learns more and more about supply chain innovation it will help his entire company. I guarantee you that whoever is handling replenishment for him has knowledge of right where that next shipment is. All of the major large chains are reducing inventories and putting huge pressures on their supply chains. Lets all be patient but buy them when you can.

I'm also waiting for dealers to restock so I can get one. From initial reviews. Spyderco did a great job with this model and I'm really looking forward to receiving mine!

I've been a Spyderco user and collector for over 20 years. While I don't like the idea of a company having to sell knives made in China, I understand the realities of business and their motives.

I have both the Tenacious plain edge and partially serrated versions, I have to say that these are the best knives that I have seen come from China. Spyderco's focus on quality is evident. These are good knives that hold up the Spyderco name.
