I have a tefc on my kmg but I found a motor on CL.
It's totally enclosed non ventilated. I read that these motors are cooled by convection but not airtight.

Would this motor get fried by steel dust?
Thanks

I may be wrong, but I thought the "Totally Enclosed" bit meant just that.

3-phase TENV motors are usually preferred over TEFC for use with VFDs because they are not reliant on the airflow generated by the shaft-mounted fan for cooling and therefore do not need the current to be derated at low speeds.

On single-phase motors, there is no real advantage to TENV, but I'd not expect there to be any real disadvantage either.

Thanks Timgunn, the guy sold the motor while I was on my way to pick it up. Who does that? Oh well, I'll keep looking.
