I would grab a Mora because you know. That handles fixed.
I would grab a SAK to open bottles and cans with. That covers folder.
I would grab a,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh no it's happening I'm too late,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This is what I'd grab

A 60's woodslasher boys axe, camillus scout, and a belt knife I made as a teenager.
Pure utility, no form over function BS here.
Really they're just great quality tools that I like, that's all that matters.

BTW I just wanna point a couple things out.
First - of all you're only asking what I would grab, the knives or tools I carry on a daily basis would still be there.
Second - all of my knives are on a shelf, I could easily dump the whole thing into a backpack faster than I could choose between them.
All of my axes and such are in the same place as well, and I could actually grab an axe and hatchet at the same time with the same hand.

These three I reckon...

The Fiskars is the only axe I currently own.
The Buck 650 is a rock solid fixed blade choice for utility and self defense.
And the Wave is way too useful to leave behind.

First possibility:

Folder: Extrema Ratio RES II
Fixed blade: LKW Knives in S1 steel, 3/16” thick.
Tomahawk: Grafknives War Hawk(????)

The folder has a really sharp blade, an emergency cutter blade, a saw, an emergency little light and a “skull crusher“ at the end, so this thing is very versatile.

The fixed blade is very tough and keeps an edge reasonably well, I’m yet to put a chip in that blade and I’ve tried! The spine still has the marks left from my 40oz hardened steel mallet, when battoning an ultra hard piece of wood called Azinho (from Azinheira, Quercus ilex) with a lot of strength (I’m 225lbs and I lift) a wood that we use to make fire here at the south of Portugal.

This tomahawk is a beast! I use my tools really hard, and my big sharps even harder, because if it’s to fail, better fail in my land than failing in a death or live situation, when I most need it. I use my tools so hard that I’ve bent some beards from other highly regarded tomahawk brands. I’ve chopped knotty pine, Azinho and all the woods I have on hand here where I live and this thing always begged for more. Than, I chopped rocks, both with the edge and the meat tenderizer, than steel reinforced concrete beam with the meat tenderizer end, than mild steel, I used the meat tenderizer end like a hammer and even broke big rocks in half. The tomahawk took almost no damage. Just got full of dirt. When cleaning the meat tenderizer, no chips. The blade just dull, no chips, but still chops wood, when using a lot of strength, that is.

Second possibility:

Folder: Spyderco Gayle Bradley (first generation)
Fixed blade: Adam Kornalski k600 Steel 10” blade and 1/2” thick
Axe: Gransförs Bruk American Felling Axe

The folder keeps a sharp edge almost forever, just don’t abuse it with wood processing. I’ve cut electric wire with it and no chipping.

This fixed blade is another beast, like the Grafknives tomahawk mentioned above and took the exact same punishment, chopping all kinds of wood, knotty or not, chopping rocks in half, steel reinforced construction beams, mild steel and more rocks. No chipping, just a dull edge. The spine still have the hammer marks from some tough battoning.

The axe is a chopping machine processing wood. Came shaving sharp and still is pretty sharp, after lots of chopping (wood) and some splitting. I wouldn’t submit this beautiful axe to the same punishment as the Kornalski and the Grafknives, because a wood handle tool is not meant to breach/destroy things. Still a great tool.

haha, spot on, love the reasoning behind it as well, makes the difference because if I read your choices I would be like really? World is gone and for 3 knife like items thats what you would choose? However your explanation gives they why behind it... Interesting nonetheless.

BTW I just wanna point a couple things out.
First - of all you're only asking what I would grab, the knives or tools I carry on a daily basis would still be there.
Second - all of my knives are on a shelf, I could easily dump the whole thing into a backpack faster than I could choose between them.

haha, I hear you, so let me try to explain where I'm coming from...

I (RE) discovered BF again 2-3 weeks ago and I have now spent like an avg of 3hrs a day jus going thru threads, like the EDC one, man i'm barely like on page 1256 now.... thats after 2-3 weeks! So I've learned alot, but really haven't learned anything if that makes sense.

BUT these 4 points stick out.

1. The knife world is a scary addictive drug, wow, hooks ya right in doesn't it?
2. Y'all dudes got a lot of knives, alot, alot, and I'm talking individually here, like most of you have 25+ knives easy it seems... that is mind blowing to me!
3. There is no ONE KNIFE TO RULE THEM ALL in this world is there...
4. The more I learn about knives, the less I know, i.e. $75 for a knife is not the crazy high price point I thought it was..

So there you have it, maybe I should have created a thread asking you to only pick your ultimate of each, folder, fixed, and tomahawk/axe/hatchet instead huh? Either way I was hoping the choice was forced with my TEOTWAWKI scenario. The learning purpose comes from me asking you to explain your choice as I am as much interested in the why's behind it as well as the choice itself.

SO there you have it, and now time to go thru the thread again. So far my radar has been piqued by the following:

Extrema Ratio RES II - looks awesome but having hard time finding it for sale now...

Graf Knives War Hawk - looks like this was started by a forum member?(lost 30mins in tht thread), they look fantastic, but not seeing the war hawk for sale?

ESEE-6 - This one keeps popping up, I keep seeing all over, edc thread, new toy thread, ect, so I am very intrigued by this one..

Keep em coming my friends, doesn't hurt to dream and loving the WHY's behind the choices

WHOA, The RMJ!!!!!!!!!! HONESTLY I think thats what got me started down this dark, dark road of knives. I mean I always had one one me before evn knowin what EDC was... Truly tho, the RMJ and the Kukri is what got me here.. in fact, both are what lead me to this forum!

I had forgotten what the specific tomahawk brand was called, since at the time they were just getting started and I think only making for soldiers in the middle east.

RMJ still top dawg? What would you say is their #1 tomahawk now?

anyone?

I like the Shrike and the Loggerhead. I'm not too well versed on hatchets/Tomahawks, but these seem super tough and feel good in hand. Plus they look cool, which is pretty important in the Apocalypse!
