TEOTWAWKI Hits 2Nite, You Can Only Grab 2, Fixed/Folder, Which Ones and Why?

Fixed blade....a WW2 British machete i found rusted to hell and i modded into my version of a seax.
Folder.....Victorinox Pioneer Range Farmer Alox….bombproof and oh so useful.
Axe/tom...….well i dont have a decent one, so instead i would say the billhook that i found at a boot sale and refurbished.

hmmm, so based on this thread and reading the EDC one here is what I come up with..

Folder: some kind of Spyderco, thoughts on the Delica v/s Endura, or is there a better option in the $75-200 range for a folder?

Fixed: the Esee 6, keeps popping up everywhere. Anyone know what the deal is with all the models, i mean esee 4, 5, and 6 I get, but then in the 6 alone there is Esee 6H, 6P, 6S. How am I supposed to know which one is what?

Tomahawk: verdict is still out on this one... but man those RMJ ones look very nice, but a bit on the higher end...

Tomahawk: An RMJ
Fixed: CPK UF
Folder: I'd prefer to combo a small fixed blade in like below, but by if not, something slicey like the bugout

The delica is a decent little knife...but, I prefer larger. In your price range, my first thought is the Hogue/Ritter RSK MK1-G2. Larger blade, better steel, comfortable handle. If you like small, and don't mind a more "traditional" style, I prefer the Buck 501 over the Delica (and there are a couple of SFOs with upgraded steel).
As far as the Esee, it's more blade than I usually carry... but, in a survival situation, it's a decent option. The letters are just variations 6S is (partially) serrated, 6HM has a modified handle. I think 6P is the regular one... guessing it stands for 'plain' (as opposed to serrated)

And, for the last piece...are you asking for axe, hatchet, or 'hawk recommendations? They're different tools that serve different purposes. Unless I'm felling big trees, I'll pass on the felling axe...choosing a shorter handle and lighter head. Easy to pack, handles delimbing chores, and can fell small to medium trees if necessary. I'll pass on the hatchet. For breeching, occasional wood chores, and use as a weapon, I'd choose a hawk. Plenty of choices out there that aren't serious budget busters (I'd love an RMJ, but haven't been able to justify the expense on something I'm probably not going to use).

*Note - the knives mentioned are not my choices...this was simply a response to your statements/questions

Spyderco PM2 K390 – Durable, lite, tough blade with good edge retention still slices well.

TOPS BOB – Good woods knife. Thick enough blade stock to take some abuse if I need to pry my way into or out of anything.

Husqvarna 26” Multi-Purpose Axe – It’s the only one I’ve got.

What makes you prefer the buck 501 over the delica, at a quick glance, seems more cumbersome to carry and use? i.e. older design

Gotcha on the Esse's, appreciate that.

I'd love an RMJ but yeah.... you mention non budget choices, can you name a few?

Appreciate the input and replies.

S Sean Price Yes, the 501 is an older design - I referenced it being more traditional - but there's a reason that style has been around so long...it just works. It isn't cumbersome, as it's shorter and less wide than the delica; and it fits comfortably in the coin pocket of my jeans, if I choose to put it there. (I usually carry it loose in my left front pocket, which is otherwise empty)

Lining up the blades shows how close the usable length is, and the difference in blade height

As far as tomahawks, I only have a few: an old Killian K5, which became the template for the Benchmade 172; a ZT Traumahawk; and a 15" Helm Grind 'Wrecker'

And my two most used axes
View attachment 1352427I've got Gransfors and Wetterlings, as well; but I'd be comfortable choosing either of these as my only axe (I generally use a chainsaw for dropping big stuff, unless I just want to play)

mora classic #3
because its idiot proof.
if need be, even baton with it.
but i m afraid casual nonknife borrowers
might end up hurt themselves first
before any serious harm can befall
this guardless classic :)
so instead of my trusty opinel
i might pocket the buck tops csar
with the glass breaker feature
i reckon there will be ocassions where the
breaking of glass is a survival requirement...
this folder is heavy duty and rated for prying
which i hope will not fail in time of need.
so there, my 2 picks that should make
the cut sufficiently...

Titanium ninja sword daisho - one big, one small.

ahhhh gotcha, and thanks for the pics, really helps put it in perspective. Not gonna lie I had written off those old style 501 knives due to their older design... but now thanks to you pic I can see their benefits or should I say, I see now why they are still on a lot of peoples radar and edc.

Thanks
