Okay......here is a bad low rez pic of my JS test knife. I isn't meant to be pretty, mind you. 5160 with horse stall mat handle.

What are the dimensions? Looks like it could eat water bottles for breakfast!

When's the big day?

Thursday afternoon in the Greater Diana-Gilmer, Texas Metroplex:D By the way, Karl. I also have a new found respect for 5160. This is the first time I have ever used any that wasn't crappy leaf spring bar from the local steel dealer or Admiral and it turned out very nice. It was the 3/8 stuff from Uncle Al and it is nice and clean and takes a rather nasty edge.

Hey Joe,

It turned out great!! Did you make more than one and try one of them out at you place in Florida? Have a great time at the AC/DC concert, I'm sure you're gonna' be in a nice frame of mind after you leave Bailey's shop. :D

Yeah.......I almost set the shop on fire with the first one. It turns out that you really only need to heat AAA above 100F.:D

Please let me know when you get back from Texas with that certificate and your mangled knife. I'd like to see it up close. :D

It's pretty ugly. 80 grit "finish" on the rubber handle. The blade has a "causual" 400 grit finish, so it doesn't look bad. It does work, though. I have tendonitis in my right elbow, so I needed the shock absorbing handle and an elbow brace for the chopping part.

HOORAY!!! :D

Joe, I see a lanyard around the handle, but does it actually go through it? I think that's a requirement!

I'm sure you'll do GREAT!!! :D

It is not a listed requirement, Nick. You may be thinking of the BladeSports requirements. I have seen at least one knife that had a cord wrapped handle where the lanyard was the tail end of the wrapping. I specifically didn't drill any holes in the knife. Better safe than sorry on the bend test. The scales are attached with super glue and would probably tear apart rather than peel off.
