test report for high nitrogen steel---HNS Yushu

I am trying to translate the numbers in my head, but your steel appears to possibly have impact resistance over twice as high as Crucible's S35VN. The big questions to be answered are what kind of edge retention, edge stability and abrasion resistance the steel has. A2 is fairly tough stuff, but it give up quite a bit in abrasion resistance compared to CPM 3V, 4V and the S30/35 stainless steels. It will also be interesting to see what the grain and carbide microstructure looks like.

Well, at first I thought no one is interested in metallographic photos,so I didn't post them.but it seems I was wrong
thank you!

Yushu composition is very close to Cronidur/N360 which are designed for aerospace ball bearing steel. if i understand right, yushu is made by PESr which is the same method Cronidur was made. i guess the abrasion resistance should be close or no less than these 2. i believe he did impact test with the regular chinese type equiptment which has the sharp and pointy hammer head. it will result the impact toughness seems lower than one done by blunt impact hammer head. the difference is significant especially on V/U notched impact test.

i am going to beijing next week. if you wish i will trade 2 bottles of johnnie walker black lable for some yushu. deal??

Hammerfall - I will trade 2 bottles of johnnie walker black label for some yushu.
Yushu - No, I like Chinese white spirit best
Blasphemy !!!! :)

Trade it for the steel anyway....If you don't like JBW Black, trade it to someone for five bottles of 白酒 (Chinese White Lightning, AKA- White Spirit).

man, back the days i was in china i had never like drinking. but i started to love it when i went to America. when i first arrived there with my poor english of strong accent, i had hard time understand the culture and local custom. and made few of friends as well. inspired by my russian roommate, i bought a lot of vodka and whisky, ordered a lot of food. invite people come over, get drunk and stuffed with meat together... then the miracle happened, it seems we understand each other much better while we were drunk... and my good luck started since then.
