so now that the zillas and regulators are popping up on the exchange, I have to say I'm more than a little disappointed by the lack of use. where's the testing, team?

hey! we kick those zilla's butts i thank you! Some serious cutting and waking took place, we just were not allowed to share yet

I thought after the 6 month gag order period user pics were allowed, my 6 month period is not over yet as I didn't score at blade.

As for the Killa Zilla, I think a lot more testing would have taken place if the things weren't so crazy expensive in the first place. I know I wanted to get one, and would have used it, but standing at the table at Blade- the Boss started pulling them out and they were around $700 IIRC. It's been 6 months, I hope I'm not out of line saying that. Times are tough. I used to be able to throw down cash like that on user blades, but not any more! I'm sure other folks were in the same boat I was.

I think the "test team" for the Zilla would have gone over a lot better if the test edition had been a competition finish, rough as-nails, affordable version. Fancy satin, nuclear meltdown ball-bearing treatment and black paper scales would be perfect for an LE, but a "test edition"?

I don't think anyone is counting money - I haven't seen a single one sell yet (including mine, which was the first listed).

Honestly, the zilla is too big and heavy of a knife for my tastes, so I used it once, sharpened it, used it again, and decided to stop using it because I was planning to sell it.

Then I just had to wait six months.

If you like massive, thick, ridiculously beefy choppers, you will LOVE the killa zilla. I like my knives light and fast, and that's definitely not zilla territory.

I said it in jest, nothing wrong with making a profit, especially on something you spent a lot of money on and didn't like. I'm surprised none have sold so far. I had planned on picking one up, but I was kind of underwhelmed by your review on the scrapyard forum so i'm just going to hold my breath for a full release with cheaper options.

You have to take my scrapyard review with a bit of a grain of salt - if you replaced the zilla with a FFBM or NMFBM, I think my comments would be very similar.

Plus, in that review, I dumped all over the NMSFNO... but after I put a proper convex edge on it, the NMSFNO has become one of my favorite knives, and is a phenomenal chopper and splitter. Edge geometry makes all the difference in the world, and, IMHO, the edge geometry on a lot of Busse's is lacking in the performance department.

I don't like fat knives, especially when they are full convex or saber ground, adding even more unnecessary weight.

well im not selling mine....I totally understand where MM is coming from and for a light weight, long distance hiker its prob not the right blade. MM compares it with the LTC khuk from cold steel which is lighter and thinner. I have a cheap khuk from cold steel (20$) and it works very well for the price, very well. But when I think of my knives, I like to think of them as indestructible. I want to mine for gold with them. Yeah the KZ needs a slightly thinner profile to cut as well as the LTC, but after 40 logs, i bet the KZ is cutting the same as when it started vs the CS LTC which may get a little beat/worn down.

I'm don't plan on selling mine either. I sold my FBM and FFBM after getting this...

My tests indicate that it does a wonderful job of looking good and holding down the wrapping paper that it came in.
I have no doubt that it would chop well, also.

yeah, I wouldn't pry open a car door with an LTC kukri....

with the zilla, I'd just have to wave it menacingly in the direction of the car, while making a mean face, and the car door would fall off in abject terror.

Well if anyone wants to test it yourself, I'll cut you a deal on the price if you buy mine - just promise to post your "testing" pictures and make sure you beat the snot out of it :D

Well, since I ground off the "Test Team" logo getting a thinner edge profile, I may just have to keep mine. It chops and cuts much better, but I know how some collectors are. But since I was to test it, I knew it was to be used anyway.

You guys have no friggin clue how much scotch has been consumed by the test team - How dare you even think about questioning something so ceremonial and sacred.
I don't hear any owner complaints - do you?

Amy has you on her list now fo sho :D

You scotch soaked posers have no figging clue how much grinding and chopping the real Test Team Members did in the interest of "science" to help Jerry perfect the Killa Zilla! We drank George Dickel No. 12 Tennessee Whisky! This is America! Love its whisky or.....never mind. :D
