Testimonial: 7 and 1/2 Years with the Small Sebenza...

These are the kind of testimonials that everyone that is thinking about getting a sebenza should read. I think they should keep things like this up for people. I think this because I feel like actually buying it now.

It's one of those purchases that you just won't end up regretting. Very few things in life are as good an overall value IMHO. :)

So the small seems to suit all your needs? Thats what I want to get, don't get me wrong, the large is LARGE, but i'm not sure if I need or want that. I am thinking a new small plain 21? I prefer no inlays. Just my preference though...

And my personal preference is that any knife with a blade over 3" should be a fixed blade. The small has always suited my needs just fine. I think the small 21 would be a great choice.

I was one of those guys who changed their knives every couple of weeks for a long time. Until January of this year, when I picked up my small Sebenza. It's been in my pocket ever since. It just works. I'm still waiting for the darned thing to "break in". It's still a bit sluggish and difficult to open. I've tried polishing the washers a couple times, cleaning & oiling the thing regularly, but it's still just as hesitant to open as ever. A minor point when you consider the overall package, it doesn't keep me from putting the Sebbie in my pocket every morning.

Great testimonial. My small Seb has been my favorite folder for years.

...to add that, now after 8+ years of edc, I gave my trusty small Seb to my Son, Zachary, who is nine years old (a very mature 9, for better or worse), and who now loves and values it as much as I did.

He actually traded me his Ontario RAT-3 for it, not exactly a fair trade, but a truly cool little fixed-blade in its own right. Kinda reminds me of a fixed-bladed Sebenza in some ways. Anyhow, now we've both got knives that have special meaning considering where they came from and who carried them.

My new EDC is a small regular Sebenza, born first quarter of 2007, with silver double lugs and backspacer. Looking forward to another decade and beyond with the small Seb for EDC. It's in the attached pic along with it's fancy brother.

Again, if you're on the fence about purchasing your first Sebenza or about toting one everyday and using it the way it was intended, I think you'd ultimately regret not doing it.

Someone once mentioned on this forum that the Sebenza is just a knife, with no "magical properties" whatsoever. I couldn't disagree more. Now to see if I can get my Daughter and Wife to carry a CRK... Mnandi's seem awfully nice. :)

Thanks all.

Professor.

Way cool story, Professor! Yup, Mnandi's are VERY classy purse knives. My wife and daughter EDC them. Here's my wife's:

very cool. and i agree my sebenza has been in my pocket since i got it back in march, and it will be in my pocket for the foreseeable future. nice write up and follow up even cooler to trade it to your son.

Good story. I let my first Sebenza go also and regretted it. Just picked up a small this time.

This knife thing evolves....as many of you know I'm sure. But right now, I've got the small Sebenza for most EDC days and some Emersons when I want something a little larger.

Everyones gotta find their knife zone and mines pretty comfy right now.

Thanks CRK...

The small seb 21 was one of the first quality blades in my recent knife buying spree.
For whatever reason, the small seb is the only one I ever bring to work with me, though I have a few other pretty freakin' nice knives.
It's just right... that's all I can think of to say.
Love that blade.
Glad to hear that my baby should have tons of years in 'er.

This is a great story. I would have missed it all-together without the follow up.

Thanks for posting it.
