I am testing new software to see how stable it is. So what I need is for you guys to hop in and check it out and report any problems to me on this thread.

It is a JAVA based caht room. The last JAVA based chat room we had was not very stable. If this one prooves to be a better platform then it may be a good way to go and gives us 1 place to head to that we have more control over. mIRC is great, but hard for newbies to get into and we have had our share of problems with it as well.

So if you have a chance, head into <A HREF="http://www.bladeforums.com/chat.html">BladeChat!</A>

I will be there for the next few minutes before I head to bed. Look at time of post

I will check back tomorrow to see how you guys like, or hate it. This new software was rated very high by 3 different magazines so I hope it works well.

Very nice addition to the forums Mike!!! It would be nice if we could make the fonts bigger, but overall it's great! Take care! Michael

So far so good, Mike... Except for the background color.

I can hardly read the messages, except when I change the font size, and then it won't fit the screen. lol..

But everything looks okay. A bit faster than Mirc, that's for sure.

Kinda hard on the eyes. Small font and the blue background tough combo for me.

NAMASTE

Guys, fonts could be enlarged if you click on the Advanced button, and change it to your preference.

Now, if only we can change the background colors... hehe..

when will the chat room be put in a catagory, will it be in say, general knife discussion? btw i think this is a great idea and have been wanting something like this.

What print?? He said, madly switching between reading glasses prescriptions, nodding head to change bifocal in use, moving eyes from and away from the monitor. THERE IS TYPE THERE?? Where?

I just hope that I am still around when YOU grow old, Turber, you turkey!

Oh My,.... Whacko Welch is getting affectionate with me again

It was metions above that you can change the font size. I will put instructions in there to show how to do that. You can also make the screen size larger by clicking on the "Detach" button in the bottom right hand corner. Then you can make the screen fit your entire monitor.

This is the FREE version and I am testing it before I buy the full blown version. What I am really after is the mIRC users to let me know if this is a good alternative to mIRC. The reason why I want this is because there is no software for you to install and I can put a button on the right side navaigation bar in here so you all can pop in a will.

Like I always say, and subsequently deliver, STAY TUNED, many exciting things to come.

My computer used to crash with the old Chat Room, this seems to work fine, except I seem to be the only one in there. I do talk to myself, but I usually don't need to that online.

Mike, the only problem I can see with this one, is that it's Java-based, and it might slow down to a crawl if a lot of forumites suddenly decided to use it.

This one reminded me of Parachat.

This one is on a much more stable platform than the ParaChat version. Not to mention a faster server. This is why I am testing it. It acheived the highest rating in nearly every test. So I am hopeful we may have a solution.

Let's do this. At 3:00 PM Est, let's all jump in there, or as many as possible to see how it handles traffic.

Mike, I am running a Mac G3 with system 8.5 and Netscape 4.7 with a cable modem.

My chat screen is fragmented into multiple parts. If I resize the screen, the chat room disappears. You seem to be able to sign in under any name you wish, that could cause some trouble. There is no list of participants, only the number. At the top of the screen it says 'contacting chat server'. I am not sure that this is running properly on my platform. I'll check back in a 3 PM.

Paracelsus

Paracelsus, I could see what you typed but you logged off before seeing my replies. It's more or less working but very lagged ... there have been up to six people on at a time in the past half hour or so, but most of them decide there's nothing happening and log off before they see anything ... if you wait around long enough ... then again, we could probably communicate faster just by posting messages in the normal way.

Hmm ... if a bunch of us just stay in this thread and keep clicking the reload button ...

Cougar we could communicate better by yelling out the damn window. I haven't had as much fun since I caught my weenie in my fly!

Cougar, that was my experience too. I checked in while you and Paraacelus were on, but by the time I logged in with my BF username Paracelsus was gone. I posted, waited about five minutes for any reply (was getting the "please wait" message, but my message went up right away) and decided to come back where something was happening. Brought back memories of text-based browsers and 14.4 modems

Is there really a problem with MIRC? I have not had any problem with it. I think for now I will stick to MIRC.

I don't like it either. Java chat sucks.

There is an HTML version. I am not sure how well it will work either but I will explore it as well.
