The biggest advantage mIRC has is the fact you can transfer files (well most of the time you can) and it's really not that hard to set up and get running, if anyone is having problems with mIRC drop me an email at walt58@hotmail.com and I'll see if I can flog it out.

Mike, was it the installation of this software that took the Forums off line yesterday for a couple of hours? What a waste.

It is obvious that there are screen elements I am not seeing. Two isolated pixels seem to be check boxes. For what, I don't know. The blue text area shows Only what I write. It is surrounded by a big black area. This is empty except for the two mysterious check boxes. I know Java is enabled on my browser. So why is the main window messed up? If I resize the window, I get booted from chat. Then I can;t get back in without shutting down Netscrape and restarting.

The outage yesterday was caused by Spark changing something on the server, not the caht room. The chat room actually runs on a seperate server.

I shut it down until another solution can be found.

We do have a mIRC chat channel. Just go to the chat section of this site. The pull down menu above will get you there.

Well, that was a dumb question, wasn't it? I went to the chat section and figured it out -- it's #Bladeforums.com on DALnet. Nobody there but me at the moment ... come on in; as soon as I can gather a goodly crowd I'm planning to perform a stupendous feat! Right there on irc before your very eyes I'm going to stab a knife half an inch or more into a pine board and pry on it until either the knife breaks or the wood does! Gentlemen, place your bets....

we have had a live chatroom on newnet for months now! mirc has been around for years and is easy to learn. every evening we have lots of regulars there chatting live which is way cooler than email or forums.

COME JOIN US! newnet connections are already inside mirc and all you do when you get connected is /join #bladeforums.com and you will be there

try it, its fun!

Mike try a search of the IRC web sights. I seem to remember seeing a link that would take a person into IRC by a telnet conecktion, no software needed. I cannot rember where this was but it might be just what you are looking for.
