Hi Everybody,

So a few thing have been in question.

I am going to break out my trusty Elmax steak knife and one of my Sawback Elmax slicers.

What kind of "testing" would everyone like to see ?

Now keep in mind I am not some youtuber and I have no intention of breaking my knives on purpose.

So I will not be pounding them through chains or big nails

But I will

Make fuzz sticks DONE

Dig out a 2X4 DONE

start a fire DONE

Cut some meat

Notch some wood to make traps

Anything else ?

Suggestions ;

Throwing

Bone saw

Stick saw

Measure ¼ ½ thickness behind edge DONE

Flex test Canceled not designed for that

Pop out wood Canceled not designed for that

Chop 2X4

Meat cuts

Light fire w/firesteel DONE

Feather sticks DONE

Paper cut book

Shave hair

Paracord amount sliced in one go with primary edge DONE maybe sawback

How many slices of paracord in a row

Slice meat and grapes thinly

Push cut wood and show thumb damage DONE

As stated in the other post you made for this, the main thing I'd like to see is the differences in the geometries between the blades. I'd recommend measuring with calipers if you can at least on a couple spots. Directly behind the edge bevel is a critical one. You could also measure say 1/2" behind the apex, 1" behind the apex, etc.

A fun test would be to see how far into the corner of a 2x4 the knife will bite into on a single push cut before stopping. This does well to show how well the knife actually cuts at a given force (your maximum force you can apply safely).

🤔🤔🤔 Saw through handcuffs.
& can ya start with this test?
Wednesday is tomorrow, & I got questions.... 😅😉🙃

I am curious if the sawback is effective at sawing through wood, like a thick tree branch or a dowel- more typical material for the sawback to use in a pinch when it's what ya got on you. 🤔 Looking forward to your testing! 🙂🤙

Similar to Jaxx, I am interested in any test of effectiveness or durability of the serrations. Very curious! I don’t want to suggest a material as I wouldn’t want to cut more than sheath air with one 😊

Or

Could it saw it’s own kydex sheath in half? 😳

meat.

also bushcraft try stick shenanigans

maybe a spoon?

do you have any rabbits? I'd seriously be interested how the sawback does on bone.

Bone

Maybe using them as a bottle opener?

Idk how you'd test them getting dull. But that would be a question.

I wanna know if you're worried about your thumb sliding up the serrations
I haven’t had any issues with this so far. The Sawback is a push-cut design, so the teeth are forward-facing. That means if you thumb pushes forward onto the serrations, you’re sliding “spine to edge” or away from the edge of the teeth…. Somewhat. This is as opposed to pushing into the cutting edge of the teeth.
Also, since they’re flat edges instead of points like on a more traditional saw, it won’t hurt like pushing on sharp points.

I want to see you make feather sticks, then see if you can strike a Firesteel with the sawback. I’m curious if it will mar the sawback…

Throw it like you do your AK47

For sure meat, and bushcraft things
maybe not the spoon right now
No rabbits but I may find some bone

Flex retention test. Drive it in and see if it holds true

Maybe

Not at all, see imcq784's post

This guy gets it, has a great point

For sure

Not really a need to use the saw back for this, but I can.
The saw back will really dig into the firesteel rod.

I prefer to use the tailend of the blade, this way the blade can be sheathed while striking, and it does not mar the sawback.

I for sure never use the sharp edge.

Keep em coming .

How many pieces of paracord at once.

both with the serrations side and the ''normal'' cutting edge

How many paracord cuts before it loses sharpness?

Slice a salami or some deli meat, or raw meat. and see how thin it can cut. I call it the sa
