Yeah, I would bet the same. Any stress that puts a perm. bend in a metal as far as I know leaves it in a weakened condition. What I am betting is that any decent knife (good steel and heat treat) would not be bothered by the stresses that throwing it around would produce.
Like I noted above there are execeptions, but for the most part I would bet that actual field use would cause a failure long before throwing it around would harm it. I would bet if you had used those same knives for heavy duty utility work they would have gave out faster and probably suffered more extreme damage.
