Post the other pics Dwayne!! How can a Busse sheath be off topic??

I agree with Bigfatty, looked to be a double pin lock Gladius sheath to me. Would be nice to se the rest.

As to the original post, it may have not been clear to Jaxx that it was indeed a Busse sheath. At least thats what I took from his post.

No need for hurt feelings. :D Big group hug and move on.

There is no need to lock this, and feel free to post your pix :thumbup: ...But it would be nice to see more than the top part of a sheath in a fairly small pic without any other comments as to what it is and what it's for, or any explanation/story/etc. When I saw this last night, I didn't see it as an off-topic thread, I saw it as a no-topic thread as there was no real reason other than "testing" given. Busse does not own the rights to all double guard knives, so had you simply said that it was a BC Gladius sheath from the start, we'd not be here now. I actually wondered if it might be for a RMDxLE, but it was late and I was tired. :o

I wasn't trying to be a prick, I was just looking for a little more...substance.

Looks like I have some reading to do...

The scabbard is for a Gladius, its such a unique shape around the handles that I was sure it was recognizable, I cant show the knife, at least right now. So I cant show a sheath without the knife anymore? Since when?

I'm not going to post any more pics till I find out for sure, if sheaths for Busse's arent acceptable as on topic anymore we have some serious thinking to do.

Only the very top of the sheath was shown. Had the whole sheath been shown, I would have known for sure that it was for a Busse.

RMDx? Interesting, but not really possible with that small a sheath. The mouth is the wrong shape by a long shot.

I, I think, you weren't trying to be a "prick" but wow, you came on very strong.

I don't do double standards, I NEVER will post a Swamp Rat or Scrap Yard or any other knife here besides A Busse, hypocrisy is one of my pet peeves.

This is my tenth year here, the last three have been very unwelcoming to say the least. Sorry, but its how I feel. Busse knives serve over 75% of my business (yea! Its less than last year! :D ) So I am loyal, and like a dog I'm always here. :o,
 
I saw a "Hog nose, eyes and ears" when I first viewed the picture. Thought it was kind of neat.
I still see it. Pretty cool picture and heck of a sheath!

I have never made a sheath, so that didn't occur to me. You, on the other hand, are a master craftsman when it comes to leather, so on most pix of sheaths, you could probably "name that tune" with just a quick glance... :) I'm not nearly as good with that. I'm a little better at calling BS when I'm shown a pic of a man in a wig and told that he's a woman... ;):D

I apologize for "coming on strong". I didn't think I did, but I was the writer, and not the reader... So I am sorry for that.

Thank you. :) and I am sorry for your initiation into the world of moderating because of me, but who better to roast you than the "Cranky Old Leatherbender" I've left my brand, wear it with honor. Ask Hammy to show you his brand, but be warned you may have to look at something you dont want to see. :eek:

I moderate at a few other forums and have felt the sting, its no fun, in fact moderating sucks! I dont know why anyone would voluntarily do it, its thankless and tedious and really no power at all. And cranky old men like me dont make it any easier. :p

you didn't, and the sheath pic is still vague even knowing what blade it sheaths.

I've seen a lot of pretty point blank moderating on bladeforums, In other instances I wouldn't have been surprise to have read 'Post a pic of a busse or this will be moved.', or just having it moved abruptly and an infraction given. Most supermods here have a lot on their hands and they go though the process quickly, which is understandable. I read your response as very courteous. It's better in my eyes to have it politely questioned by the subforum moderator than have it abruptly moved by a supermod.

I'm very positive that that's a badass sheath and I always enjoy seeing dwaynes work, which is consistently solid and good looking. But, moderators are expected to enforce the rules, forum members are expected to abide by them. Jaxx is doing a good job of asking questions first rather than just moving stuff.

I think this particular rule is one that is initiated in higher volume subforums, particularly the general knife forum where a lot of new members start out, being new to the knife world and sometimes forums in general. If testing posts were allowed there the first 5 pages would be littered with them on a pretty consistent basis. It's probably not nearly as well suited for this subforum, but the rules are applied universally.

Ya that would just about keep me away for good. Way over the top regardless of how full anyone's plate is. (I'm referring to the infraction part). Especially if it were done to someone who has supported these knives for so long. And Jaxx isn't like that either. Both good men. :thumbup::thumbup:
 
LVC, just for informational purposes, I dont cross post, never have never will. If I do a Swamp sheath it goes there, if I do a CRK sheath it goes there. Busse stuff belongs here. I commented about just this a while back and was told it was alright and to mind my business. To be accused of that behavior strikes me as odd.

I think, like most of the old guard, my time participating here regularly is slowly passing. I make my living making sheaths here, but I think that's about going to be it. On my tenth anniversary at that, kind of depressing.

Dwayne, could you do me a favor and mebbe post that sheath with a Busse in it so I don't keep staring at this thread and wondering if I should be moving it to a more appropriate forum?
