Hey Folks,
Trying out camera angles and such. This one is great for the side view but you can't see anything else, really. Let me know what you think... about the music as well.:cool:

You really need to audition for Canada's Got Talent...hey? (edit for proper spelling) Eh?

{sarcasm}I don't know, maybe something wrong with the camera. The hammer just keeps striking from the same direction, doesn't bounce all over the place, the hot steel doesn't bounce all over when hit, no excessive sparks flying, etc. Maybe a better camera will show these things better.{/sarcasm}

Seriously though, something neat might be the time-lapse mode set to 1/2 second. Pretty cool, not having to worry about destroying a camera lens with sparks. You can pick those go-pro cases up pretty cheap on eBay.

Looks a little different as I'm used to Go-Pros on rally cars with scenary going by at 100 mph !
Would your video be a bit better with the camera at a higher angle ??

Thanks for the comments, eh?

Charles... I tried missing a few times and striking when the steel was too cold to move but failed miserably it seems. Chalk it up to a few too many hours at the anvil developing all those bad habits like hand-eye coordination and decent judgement.:p

Mete... Yeah, I am definitely going to try different angles. I also have all the little mounting devices for a helmet, chest rig, etc... The fish-eye lens on the GoPro distorts things quite a bit but the field of view is pretty cool. 90deg inclusive vertical, 120deg inclusive horizontal. For this video the, lens was just above the tip of the anvil horn. If I were to set up the camera a foot away from the anvil you could see me from head to toe in the frame.

Yes, Karl. Easy to edit, add fades, text, etc... We used my wife's Mac. At minimum, you would need an editor that can reduce the data size a bit. The GoPro has a really high resolution and you'll be able to upload to youtube quicker with a smaller file. Once in youtube, you can add annotations, fades and other edits in the video manager.

Thanks Rick. While that was informative and entertaining, a guest vocalist would dramatically improve the entertainment value.

Heheh! Nah, that was awesome. :D
